I let go of my hope when Hull's second went in. The time has come where I just feel stupid to keep believing- the team we need to get ahead of, Sunderland, beat us 4-1 at CC. We've conceded 10 more goals than anyone else in the league, more than 2 per game, and barely score more than 1 per game (1.028).

Sorry for the injection of misery to an already downbeat discussion, I'm struggling to think of many happy memories this season- Kasami's goal seems a long time ago. I've been in denial for much of the season (along with others) the writing was on the wall early on.

I still think we've got a decent chance of catching Villa, but only if we win our remaining games. If we can do our part (and, yes, I know what a big 'if' that is), they are the team I think most likely to pay for it. It's not beyond the realms of possibility for Sunderland to get nothing from here on in, but I'd be surprised if that happened. West Brom will probably inch over the line regardless of our results, but they offer a glimmer of hope too. I'm not giving up until I see how the situations looks after the weekend.

I'm with you Capt. We still have a slim chance if we win the next two games.

It's been a slow, agonising fall from grace, where only Sunderland seem to want to stay up. After Saturday we will know more but it is driving me mad.

I'm not going so will be listening attentively to Gentleman Jim and I hope annoyed with myself for not getting myself organised enough to purchase a ticket in time.

I think the slimness of the chance is to do with whether or not we can win the next two. If we win them, I'm pretty confident that it will be enough to keep us up. If we only win one, we've got a wafer-thin chance that depends entirely on Sunderland stuffing things up completely from here.

Which makes Mourinho's point that all teams at this stage in the season should have played the same number of games all more important...
Don't really understand why the two postponed games have not been played yet.

It's down to one game in hand. The catch up matches are scheduled for a week today (7th May) -

    Man City v Aston Villa
    Sunderland v West Brom

So by "Parachute Sunday" (11th May) when everyone kicks off at 3pm it will be even steven on games played.

For SAFC games in hand its down to our cup runs and the Champions league - there is a rule that premier clubs are not allowed to play on nights when CL is on even if it does not involve teams from your country (crazy isn't it) + the cup runs limited the weeks that we could replay the postponed games. We played Hull in the QF of the FA cup and if we had won that we would have had another game postponed and would have ended up playing 4 PL games in the last 8 days instead of the 3 we are playing now
