Now, on the face of it, this seems like a straight forward question and everyone would say Fabiański purely because he has played all the cup games and he basically won us that penalty shoot-out against Wigan, so he clearly has a great case to start the final. But, he is going to leave at the end of this season, while Szczęsny is likely to be our number one for many many years. Surely, giving him the chance to finally win something and get that experience is going to be more beneficial to us in terms of the future? Also, it would give him the chance for redemption after what happened against Birmingham. It would be extremely harsh to drop Fab, but Wenger clearly rates Chensey as the better keeper, so it would make sense to play your best team for a cup final. For me as harsh as it sounds, I would drop Fab and play Chensey purely because he is our number one, and we got to play our best team.
I think Fab is the more overall reliable. he MIGHT not be quite as good as Ches's genius moments , but hes better than Ches's wtf moments. very good all round goalie v Genius loose cannon .
No way. Szczesny has improved massively this season on areas that people used to pull him up on, namely his kicking, distribution and decision making. He's been absolutely solid between the sticks this season and he's pretty much ironed out all of the silly mistakes he was making. Fab has improved too but Szczesny is by far the better keeper. That said, Fab got us to the final so I think he deserves a start in the final.
If Hawkes doesn't play he could be the only player in our first team not to have s medal. And he is our long term keeper, gotta be Hawkes for me.
Fabbys super penalty saves alone have earned him the right , and Ches 's red card shennanigans are a blot on his textbook.
“You play football on your merit and your performance and he has turned up with top-level performances until now in every single game,” Wenger said of Fabianski.
It would be fair to play Fabiansky. But he needs a run of two games, especially if Everton loses to ManCity. Then Fabiansky should play against West Brom and Norwich, and if he plays well, then Wenger should play him in FA Cup final.
