So you deny that you ever have gut feelings? I know I do but I don't believe in psychics or astrology. Sure they are thoughts that you can't quite justify in your head but you can't say they don't exist or that they mean more than they do.

As for City. It is possible to have an expectation that they will drop points based upon either your analysis of the results this season or even just trusting your feelings!

    Your turn

I do think EVerton could come good against Man City. But now I also think that Villa's counter attack, and West Ham's stubbornness could also pose threats ...

Everton, Villa and West Ham are horrible fixtures.

Everton are a good side, currently 5th on merit and so are more than capable of winning. There is a chance they have worn themselves out, however, Martinez is great against Man City.

Villa have to win and also play better against the big teams, the Chelsea game is a good example.

West Ham have Big Sam. Whatever you think about him he loves sticking it to the big teams.

  4. Man City play Villa and West Ham at Eastlands so it would be a big upset if either of them got anything.

Big Sam hates Liverpool more than sticking it to a big side. He's best chums with Fergie too.

I just see City adding more to their goal difference over the games, as long as we don't lose to Palace and then beat Newcastle, we will be 2nd.

Have to agree with Jaffa. We're already 8 goals down on GD, thanks to our crappy defence, and can just see city making that gap even bigger.

Its all on the Everton game for me. If city win that, I think we as fans and the players will be down about it, but I hope they pick themselves up to make sure we get 2nd. There is still positional money to play for.

I have had gut feelings, though usually when I suspect something is wrong. For every time my gut feeling has been justified, there is an occasion where I am pleasantly surprised because everything is alright. Usually, it is the brain manifesting probability of an occurrence and experiences into a certain 'feeling', expectation, de ja vous, etc. For example, you have 2 consecutive ****ty days at work, you are likely to have a gut-feeling that the third day will also be ****ty. Your subconscious may even shape the day into a ****ty one with passive negative reactions to situations.

Obviously in the case of Man City and their run in, your subconscious cannot affect the result what so ever. Lee's gut feeling probably comes from experience: the fact that of late Man City have dropped points. Statistically speaking, they probably wont but it isn't too unlikely that they could, which helps shape this 'feeling'.

Going with your gut, has no real relevance in the context that's being discussed, as in reality it's hope together with some applied logic that backs the hoped for outcome that's driving the supposed 'gut' here.

Villa are much better away from home as they operate best when counter attacking. I agree its unlikely but if Villa are going to get anything it will be away from home when there pace can cause problems against the city defence.

As we've already established on here over the last few days. All Everton fans are secretly Liverpool fans- so stop being so negative. ;)

Its not over, we should play the following:

    Mignolet
    Johnson - Skrtel - Sakho - Flannagan
    Gerrard
    Allen - Coutinho
    Sterling
    Suarez - Sturridge

Attacking, we should aim to get Allen and Gerrard sitting comfortably in the middle with Sterling dragging out left and Johnson out the right with Coutinho pushing into the hole to support the attack.

Defensively we should have Sterling and Coutinho sitting deeper than they have been, preferably with Gerrard sitting infront of the CBs to launch any potential counter attacks and with Allen providing some stability when required.

Also to note, I hate the stupid passing around the back, it works for some but for me, Skrtel and Sakho are not comfortable enough with the ball at their feet and even Gerrard proved against Chelsea what can happen in a split second, when passing around deep in order to lure in the opposition, there should ALWAYS be cover in behind, especially against a team like Palace who are likely to press aggressively.

Both you and Lucas Talking are probably limiting the sense of feeling. Yes it does have relevance for the person who has experienced the feeling. You may not agree with the vocalisation of that feeling. You may also query how that feeling was evolved. However you cannot deny that for the person experiencing that feeling it will help to shape his/her opinion. Therefore it is relevant to what was being discussed. As for the feelings being associated with applied logic, that is a non-sensible remark. If logic were applied then the outcome would not be a feeling!

LT, why did you make such a negative explanation? Are you really saying that you only experience negative gut feelings?

Quite the converse, 'gut feeling' isn't anything other than finger in the air guesswork dressed up with the expression 'a feeling'

Your gut isn't an organ with the power of rational thought, the 'feeling' is merely a hope or guess generated in your conscious mind, that's often rationalised with some applied logic.

When people say "I've got a feeling that..." they're often actually expressing merely their considered opinion

'Gut feeling' is also often associated with how we feel about an individual, but the gut instinct is nothing more than your first impressions combined with your previous knowledge and experience.
