unbelieveable how long we went without a scouting network and explains some 'you tube' signings we made
Afternoon All, Sorry to hear you're not out of the woods yet, 60. Thoughts are with you & hope it all goes well at the LGI. Glory, I had gout in my toe once. If I passed something over it gently (like a sheet or sock), I hit the roof. I could push & prod with no pain. Really odd condition. I agree that you should go to A&E, or at the very least, go to your GPs & refuse to leave until at least a nurse looks at you. Wouldn't wish gout on anyone.
60, keep yer chin up pal. We're all behind you 100% Glory, get yerself down to A and E before it gets more serious.

Hi Bucks, You have raised some important points. I believe a lot of it has to do with attitude - the referee's attitude. All of the things I am going to mention I learned in training and I try to apply it to every game: Before the game When I find out my assignment, if it is a field I have not been to before, I locate it on a map on my computer and send driving directions to my phone. I set an alarm on my phone that will help me to get to the game 1/2 hour before kick off. I have a ref bag with all my different coloured shirts, whistles, cards, team score sheets, coins, etc. always ready to go. When I arrive at the field, I try to look professional and ready to go, other than my ref jersey until I see what colors teh teams are wearing and what colors my other referees have. I try to look confident but I am smiling, looking like I want to be there, which I usually do. I try to greet everyone I come close enough to say hello to. I make a point of introducing myself to the coaches with a big smile and a handshake. I try to chat with the players while they are warming up and at the coin toss, in a friendly but businesslike manner. I am not trying to make friends, I am trying to show that I am happy to be there and I that I respect the others that are there. During the game #1 priority - safety of the players - I will explain that at appropriate times during the game. I try to keep up with play as best I can. When the day comes that I cannot keep up, I will limit myself to doing the kids games I can keep up with. I believe in preventative refereeing - talking to players during play or at stoppages e.g., "keep your hands down," "not a good idea to try that in the penalty area," "I saw the foul but gave you the advantage, I thought you would prefer that." I try to look like I am having fun - not easy when you have difficult players/coaches/spectators, hot weather, feeling uncomfortable, etc. I deal with dissent or negative comments ASAP - players, coaches, sidelines. I say what I have to say and move on - this is not an invitation to have a conversation. Nothing good will come of that. I try to show respect and when necessary let others know I deserve it too. When I need to, I will talk sternly to players and show cards as needed - 1st minute or 90th minute. If I make a mistake and realize it, I own up and change the decision. If I am the Center Ref, I let my ARs know that AR = Another referee, we are a team and we work together. We communicate throughout the game with our eyes and with the thumbs up sign almost every time the ball goes out. If you are still reading, I don't want to bore you with more details. After the game Try get the ball back to the coach/team that provided it. Shake hands with those around me, I dont chase to get a handshake. Compliment goalscorers, goalkeepers, etc. if they had a good game etc. Leave smiling and looking professional. I think it all helps when you appear serious about serving the players for their game. I find it mostly effective and a positive experience 8 times out of 10. The other 2 - I recognize that there probably was not much I could have done about it, every once in awhile, I will wish I handled someting differently/better and thought the outcome might have been more positive had I done it another way. I enjoy participating and hopefully making the game better for the participants and spectators.
Bet365 are offering only 40/1 for Bayern to win, and score four more goals then Real Madrid in the second half. What are they on. Try 150/1
Just logging in for first time today. Best of luck with your treatment 60. Everyone here right behind you
I agree...we regularly get a couple of new exciting talents step up each year which is arguably alot more than other clubs in this division. Just to name a few Mowatt, Byram, Dawson, Poleon, Lees, Howson, Delph in the last few years. That said investment in youth is always smart and improvements in facilities and infrastructure always welcome.
