Can't link but a bit on sky that city have been fined £50m payable over 3 years and had their Champ league squad cut to 21 (still with 8 locally trained players) for next year.

That is a big deal as will really toughen their recruitment and may make some players very unhappy if not included. They've not agreed yet and are set to contest which means the punishment could get harder!!!

Hope Uefa don't wimp out and push through with this.

That's actually a lot, lot harsher than I was expecting - thought they'd pull something pathetic out the bag.

The punishment should be harsh, had a long long time to get this right and it's been clearly ignored

i get the fine bit, but surely having the squad cut is against the comp rules?

glad to see something (time will tell properly lol) is trying to be done about this, but the squad numbers cant see how that is allowed, esp if a serious injury happens to a player and they can say over used, could get into all sorts of legal bollocks.

should increase the local numbers they have to have or something, but not the actual number that takes part.

City have until Friday to agree to these penalties or they have to go to an appeal which will impose a mandatory judgement - which could be tougher!

  9. Will the fine count towards future FFP calculations? If not then its pointless

FFP should be empowered to deduct points from City, i.e 6 points in the EPL.....<laugh>

Mweh, I think it makes sense..."you" tried to buy advantage by paying unsustainable wages and fees amassing huge squads, many of which will wear no more than your training top....all of which inflates player prices and wage expectations...you were warned and ignored us so we will remove that advantage in an other way....We''ll make some of those highly paid stars pointless....And it evens it up for the smaller squads who so far are rewarded with domestic success by being penalised through squad degradation with the increase in games....trying to compete with the mega squads.....it was Citys choice in the first place.....

As long as it's followed through...

i think having such a fine is EASY for city... not for others but for them they cann simply fornt laod another fake sponsor deal and manage the fine and incoming transfers without skipping a beat.

having a squad of 21... well that's slightly more real but it's still crap as they can come knocking for english players and load up

21 is actually all you'd really sue no?

6 games in group to manage then the knockouts

I think the squad of 21 is a bigger deal than the fine.

If you were a playing being transferred to them you'd want assurances you'd be in that 21 man squad. Would severely put you off joining if that wasn't guaranteed. Also 8 locally trained players.. That's a lot. Yes hey could go and buy some more but then they'd have to pay top dollar - all about supply and demand. And to the fact would that player then want to go in the knowledge they're only making up numbers?

They may have to fill their CL squad with players like Rodwell and Sinclair instead of other better quality players.

It's meant to be a punishment to stop them keep doing it, I reckon teams would think twice going forward if the punishments are that severe.

    lets just lay this out

    Aguero
    Boyata, (Yes)
    Clichy (Yes)
    Demichelis
    Dzeko
    Fernandinho
    Garcia
    Hart, (Yes)
    Silva
    Jovetic
    Kolarov
    Kompany
    Lescott (Yes)
    Milner (Yes)
    Nasri
    Navas
    Negredo
    Pantilimon
    Toure
    Zabaleta

thats 20 players who precisely is missing? i deleted richards off and rodwell. but lets be clear. they just add kids to make up the Hg requirement so.... they need to drop only 2 of the names above for HG and then if they buy they sell which there REALLY should be doing anyway.

Expect lescott to go, then buy HG CB. simple. by fernando form port, sell garcia... no loss.

and the list goes on and on of things like that. Its not great later on but i'll bet you that they've no problem getting through

Sponsorship deals that are from companies owned or directly linked to the clubs owners will come under scrutiny, as they'll have to demonstrate that they're at the market value rate.

FFS! This is the first round of UEFA inspections. They have already said that no expulsions will result from this round. However, that maximum sanction could still be employed at the end of the next round.

The staff of the Inspection Committee will now have a much better idea of both how the system works and how clubs are re-arranging their affairs in the light of the regulations. To also move to some apparently meaningful sanctions would appear to suggest that both the Finance Committee and UEFA itself are well satisfied at this stage.

As with tax regulations clubs will try and work their way around them. However, UEFA are now better armed to deal with 'exotic' practices and still haven't needed to wield their biggest stick. Given that all clubs engaged in European competition will be aware of what is happening with City and PSG, it will make them more aware of how their corporate decisions my be affected by FFP.

If they've been at the club (and not been loaned) for two complete previous seasons.
