Priceless... by the end of this thread you will be like the start of an episode of Thunderbirds....4 - 3 - 2 - 1 Hampy, you really have lost the plot....you clearly state in your post WITHIN 4 POINTS. I did research on 4 POINTS OR LESS, stop f**king moving the goal posts.!
I didn't move the goal posts, we've been sat four or five points away most of the time since something like January. However < 4 points not much time at all (and hence not really close IMO and certainly not compared to Sunderland and Liverpool who have spent significant time inside the zone in question).
Obviously in some contexts within can mean including the boundary but often means inside and excluding the boundary. If I am within the walls I am not sat on the wall. Both are valid, you should've asked for clarification however I think it's clear to anyone who has looked at the table regularly this season that we have spent a lot of time 4 points away so I wouldn't have thought I'd need to be more specific 1. in or into the interior or inner part; inside. 2. in or into a house, building, etc.; indoors: The fire was burning on the hearth within. 3. on, or as regards, the inside; internally. 4. inside an enclosed place, area, room, etc.: He was startled by a cry from within. 5. in the mind, heart, or soul; inwardly. 6. in or into the interior of or the parts or space enclosed by: within city walls. 7. inside of; in. 8. in the compass or limits of; not beyond: within view; to live within one's income. 9. at or to some point not beyond, as in length or distance; not farther than: within a radius of a mile. 10. at or to some amount or degree not exceeding: within two degrees of freezing.
Just to confirm to both Hampy and Hoppers...we spent a total of 18 weeks within 3 points of the play offs. I suppose we could all argue til we are all blue in the face, but the upshot of this season is, we are a more stable club than we have been in the last few years. We didn't rely on as many loans, we've been in the hunt for a play off place all season, and this will be our highest league position since 08/09. That said, we have probably played the most dire football we have probably ever witnessed at PR (especially in the last 20 years) Yes, we have made progress, but f**k me we are still a long long way behind if we want to be back in the prem, playing the traditional Ipswich way.
Playing the most dire football at Portman Road in the last 20 years eh Stretchy! You obviously didn't go to any games during the era of the dark lord and Jewell!
Under jewell it was embarrassing to watch a lot of the time.... ...if you like or dislike how we play under MightyMick at least we don't get hammered every other game.
Yeah but he did tell you so.... ....That's because he is fundamentally & factually incorrect.! Hampy use the Statto web site, you can view the league week by week etc. I did it Sat to Sat from start to date, international breaks were included in my results. Don't cheat & exclude the opening weeks to suite your needs, play off spots are 6th to 3rd at the start & the end of the campaign.
Also in sporting events be it F1 Athletics, swimming etc if you reach the required qualifiying time or limit then you are in not out. F1 107% of the pole time & you are in. Athletics if you run 11 seconds in 100m you are in etc etc. You did clearly state within 4 points not under 4 points as that would be 3, although that still equates to many more than 2-3 weeks as put forward by yourself.!
I seem to have caused a bit of a stir with my thread on the Norwich board! I honestly didnt mean it as a WUM thread because I am genuinely interested to see where they would put Hughton in their list of all time Norwich Managers! Maybe its just down to bad timing!
