Anyone who is suggesting Rodgers is a better manager than Mourinho should be put down immediately. Delusion of the highest order.

Well apparently it's me that's sidetacking despite my clearly defined argument throughout my posts. The league table suggests Rodgers has done a better job than Mourihno this season. That's it, that's the fundamental point I made. Which just simply can't be challenged (yet) Tobes insisted on denying it was true and sought to generalise the argument to give himself wiggle room. So I obliged: I challenged Tobes to show how Mourinho would do better with our squad as he's never ever played the approach used by Brendan. He's never ever played an approach that so blatantly ignores defending. His answer was to envisage Mourinho somehow getting more out of our defence while getting the same from our attack (which by my reckoning would have meant Mourinho would have transformed us into a league winning side with league won just after Christmas!)...although he got a bit confused with the hypothetical as he'd switched Suarez and or Sturridge over to playing for Chelsea with their better defence to make that point...yet he claims Mourinho builds teams he doesn't walk into premanufactured teams..except Tobes needed to add our players to his sorry Mourinho's team for him to do better than us....hypothetically of course... Despite me clearly talking about THIS year, this league (I repeated that point), he keeps wandering back in time to other seasons and other leagues altogether. So there you have it...Mourinho is better than Rodgers this season because he's won leagues in other seasons and could make our defence better and our forwards would be still as deadly in said defensively minded Liverpool team because one or both are all that's needed to make Chelsea champions as they'd replace the rubbish strikers Mourinho actually bought....So Mourinho is better than Rodgers who is a fraud because he took a 7th place team to top of the league buying **** players but anyone could do that....And choose not to. Everyone clear about Tobes argument? Good Stuff.

As for 2nd point, I said "believe", although I'm pretty confident you said it was at least likely based on the fact that you finished above us in the last two seasons and nothing had changed to make that different...if I could be arsed I'd go back and check but I can't be arsed as I'm confident everyone on here knows you said something to that effect....you changing your mind to suit todays attack on us is also just accepted on here... It's time specific...I didn't once claim Rodgers had a better managerial record, in any of my posts..you were the one to keep wandering.. Then I asked the question in paragraph 5. You said yes but provided no argument for your answer...I have provided arguments for why I think not....you just kept claiming I'd made assertions that I didn't . I can see why you liked Mourihno. It's all smoke and mirrors to deflect away from your mistakes....or at least at the contradiction you found yourself in if you claimed that the squad you have categorically rebounded for two years would somehow have gained the points and position they are in playing a style of football nobody on this Board believes they could manage....including you up until I posed the question. Now a smart man might have reversed my question and asked does anyone think Rodgers could get Chelsea where they currently sit with the squad they have. I'm not so sure....the likes of Terry would get the hump at being left exposed to BRa attacking style. Their full backs would certainly enjoy Rodgers approach Hazard, Oscar would love it.... I even think Rodgers individual attention to players might have got more out of Torres but nit much.... But no, I don't think with that squad and his style Rodgers would have equalled their position...Terry and Frank would have lead another revolt....

There's no reason why Rodgers can't go on to break Mourinho's record in the future. But at this moment in time, Mourinho is a winner and his CV proves it. However, I will go onto say that Rodgers is a better manager FOR Liverpool than Mourinho. We like to play aggressive football, promote youth and doing it on a budget (compared to the teams that Mourinho has managed). Is Mourinho someone who will come, start from scratch, create a team, develop players, develop youth, build a dynasty? No - he's someone who will come in, spend a lot of money, upset people, win trophies, leave an ageing squad with big earners and then bugger off. Very effective but it comes at a cost. His success at Porto in the European cups are admirable. He achieved domestic success as well, and while I'm not trying to demean them, winning the league with Porto isn't that impressive in a 1 team league (at that time).
