I think we want them to win but who knows. I mentioned in the pub thread that City may well tonk Everton...... then drop points against West Ham. You never know. Mourinho has handled all the top teams this year.... all of us. But he kept slipping up against the lower teams and that may have cost him. Who knows, going to be interesting though.
No... but they're professionals and will want to win it for themselves and for Everton. Plus- Lukaku would know beating City will help Chelsea too. One more slip up from us and Chelsea could still be champions if City fall.
To be fair- Tobes does make up 10% of Everton's fanbase- where as you make up less than 0.001% of Liverpool's fanbase. That said- I think most fans would agree with you Gerrez. I would always want us to win- even it helps Man Utd or Everton. It's always about our club vs someone else... I want us to always win. (and... actually, I'd be happy if us winning helped Everton too... I've never hidden the fact that I want Everton to succeed- as long as they're below us... ... I think many Liverpool fans look on Everton as our kid brother... sure we fight... but we want the best for you) Liverpool and Everton are a lot like England and our Celtic neighbours in the islands. England gets excited when Scotland or Ireland succeed at something. (we probably would with Wales too- if they ever succeeded at anything). Scotland and Ireland return the love with animosity.
We will go for It against City especially after the display against Southampton.. TBH I think that LFC should be looking more to the Crystal Palace trip that's a hard game the way they have been playing, I think your going to muller Newcastle at home though
I dunno, if we were fifth and I saw Sturridge on a Twitter celebrating the top of the league losing I wouldn't want him playing tbh.
No, nobody will shoot them. But I will give them all about of crabs the likes of which have never been seen.
If Newcastle get something against Arsenal then it gives Everton motivation against City. Otherwise it is a lot less likely.
Everton have some key injuries, but I think they will give City a game. Unfortunately, much as I would love them to get a draw, I think City will have to much for them and City are used to winning the prem and the pressure that goes with it. Remember the last minute goal when Utd fans thought they had won the league.
Imagine if Everton help us win the league by beating City, but don't manage to finish 4th. think it might just finish Tobes off
Given that Arsenal have just clinched the 4th place trophy, I reckon we'll be fielding some youngsters.....expect Garbutt, Ledson and Browning to feature
So you'll be emulating Chelsea and playing your 2nd team huh? If the result is the same- that will work for me! So Tobes, do you really want to lose to City rather than win? That does seem a bit *cough* *plastic* *cough* , a bit odd to me.
The thing is though. Even if the Everton fans don't want to win against Arsenal- Martinez and the team will know there is still a sliver of chance at Champions League and they will fight for it. The "fans" may want to lose- but their team will still go out there and fight.
Agreed. Only hopeful thing is that Martinez and the players (most of them) will want to win, not just for the outside chance of CL, but also because they'll want to win. Big game and the players will want to show they can beat the big teams like Man City. My only thought is that they wont be good enough to do it and £ity will win at a canter.
Professional pride should take place. I can't think the Spanish/American/Belgian players really care if it helps Liverpool. They won't feel that way, they'll want to play well score goals and win games with the WC coming up.
Yes, well said Tobes. Everton - the club, its staff and its fans have nothing to prove on that score. Do it for yourselves as you have an outside, mathematical chance of finishing fourth, or indeed securing fifth place from the Spuds. As to previous comments from Shergar re Gerrard and Chavski, well you looked soft in '95 when Slurgie was hinted we'd throw the game against Blackburn and then you couldn't even win against West Ham.
Arsenal haven't clinched anything yet. And at this moment in time it's still possible that united could overtake you, never mind Spurs. Buck up for your own sakes, let alone ours.
