..... just shows how wrong you can be when you're watching a match live. I came away thinking Johnson was the only one who hadn't 'put in a performance' on Sunday. I'm sitting here watching the match in full and the lad is everywhere ...... going past people, playing great balls through and backtracking. He's putting in tackles and working his socks off ....... humble pie being munched here
We noticed that despite the drink we'd had ........ Cardiff were pulled all over the place and OGS didn't have a clue. His big tactical change was to bring on Kenwyne Jones and play him in defence despite being 2 goals down
I don't think you could fault any of the players for effort...If I was going to criticise anything about our play, it would be that we need to get forward quicker sometimes..
The power and pace ManC especially used for their second goal against Palace, the give and go run, passing into space rather than our passing to feet. For me the only drawback to our performances lately is the ponderous build up.
I was willing gus to swap the wingers round and it worked straight away aj driving at the right back won the corner for the first goal.
i'm not sure if that is a confidence rather than ability thing. we didn't want to give possession away which keeps things less adventurous. i thought AJ worked hard, but was less effective than he can be with his final ball and dribbling
That's what I thought live but he was much better than I'd thought watching the game in the cold light of day. He played quite a few balls across the box when that was his only real option but no one was quick thinking enough to take a chance. He didn't 'go past' many times but that was because Cardiff doubled up on him ........ that left space for the likes of Colback & Seb. He didn't half put a shift in tbh.
Since his run of good form they the oppo have doubled up on him again. This should be creating space for others.
I think it should have before - but we had no confidence or ability to exploiut the space - we seem to have clicked into gear at just the right time TBH. Be good to win the next 2 and go into Swansea with a relaxed feeling about the place and able to clap the team & gaffer off after a rescue mission of epic proportions!
