How on earth would he play that appalling defensive style with our defenders? Which of our strikers would he stick up front on their own ahead of the bus.... So Yes and furthermore he can not get more out of a supposedly superior squad....what's not true about that? Oh go on, tell us the one about him not having any decent strikers despite loaning them out or not using them. Or tell us about how the 300+ squad can't play the extra games they were assembled for... Who's giving you the bigger arse kisser medal this year Tobes, United or The Chavs..? Wait you've done the double haven't you!
Difference is, BR isnt about to get his bus pass and he's done proper training to be a manager which didnt involve Scottish football
save me time catching up on the rest of the pages in the thread, can I assume that tobes has just pissfarted about and got nowhere near giving an answer.
No your right no manager could do worse or better with the same bunch of players. In fact, I'm not sure why clubs even have managers TBH
The point is you can't play counter attacking football when the opposition doesn't attack. That being said i would have liked to have seen a more composed approach to the game, having SG as the last man on the halfway line, in the first half injury time at 0-0 is absurd I don't care which team we are playing, BR should know better than that and he will have to in the CL next year. I have no doubt that we should have gone into this game with the mindset to win it, but we should have also been composed enough not to throw it away, which is exactly what happened. Forget the Bitters who say we were out classed or beaten by Jose's tactics we know thats not true, but BR has to think about the bigger picture sometimes not just beating chelsea but not throwing away the league which IMO we did by playing so high ( Not counter attacking!!). The same goes for next years CL, its much easier to stay in contention and take your chances than to try and blow the opposition away.
Do they play like that every week? errmmmm, that'll be a No then. He came to Anfield with a PL debutant at CB, so I'm sure he could get a tune out of seasoned Internationals... As for a superior squad, they have apart from up front, where they've got Torres who's a busted flush and has been for nearly 4 years, Eto'o who's well on the downslope and Ba who's hardly World Class ffs. As opposed to you lot who've got Suarez and Sturridge who've bagged 50 between them in the league, put either of them in Mourinho's side and they'd have won the league at a canter imo. As for arse kisser? If me correcting your one eyed, deluded nonsense about tiki taka being better than Mourinho somehow makes me an arse kisser in your red tinted view then so be it mate
Errrr...so you're using the results Rodgers got out of his strikers by playing an incredibly attacking form of football as the basis for your argument that the incredibly defensive minded manager would have somehow used them the same way...despite not playing that way .....ever...now that's not to say he hasn't players attacking football in any game but nowhere in his history does it suggest he would have set us up to allow these lot to do what they did. Using Rodgers actual achievement as your evidence for Mourinho's hypothetical when he's never ever played that style of football....lol So I ask again....Which ONE of our strikers would he have played up front on his own Suarez? There's Sturridge's goals gone as he'd be used as a sub or winger, just what made him unhappy at Chelsea. Sterling wouldn't have got a look in by Mourinho. Have you seen Glen Johnson defend...ever? Henderson? Wouldn't have been on the team as Mourinho wouldn't have had the patience Rodgers has with individual players. For by the fact that Chelsea had already spent millions on strikers before he came and let one of theirs go (Sturridge, that would be the guy Chelsea insisted was a winger and Rodgers knew was a striker.)..they spent over 100 million on players this season..Mourinho brought in Eto and Shirliey..he knew the rest were ****e, he already had all those defenders in place....so all he had to do was concentrate on his attack....he bought the old fecker to replace the busted flush and demba ba lol.....you've been quick enough to highlight Rodgers failures in the market but somehow ****e players just "happened" to Mourinho. Keep going Tobes you've yourself so twisted in circles you're staring at your own backside...
And as I clearly pointed out Tobes...I said "this year" league table states as much....you really do seem to have a literacy issues.
Did Mourinho also come second to "tiki taka" at Real because he lacked a world class forward like Suarez? Your Manc mates won't appreciate that but I guess it's settled Suarez > Ronaldo I guess it's a masterclass for Mourinho to overcome seasoned internationals like Flanagan with lowly single-cap internationals like Kalas #melt #down
haha, the old claim victory despite patently having not a leg to stand on tactic, beautiful. I respectfully suggest that it's you who is squirming like a fish on a hook here, and looking to divert the debate. The facts are simple Frank, you stated that Mourinho wouldn't have been capable of getting the same results out of Liverpools squad as Rodgers has. Which is not only merely a subjective opinion, but by definition it infers that you therefore consider Rodgers to be the better manager. Which is where we started, why I pissed myself laughing and why you're barking mad if you actually believe that bollocks imho.
Mourinho has proved in his career since leaving Porto that he will always sacrifice attacking intent to ensure that he stays in the game. If you gave him the greatest attacking forward line in the world he would sacrifice it in a heartbeat if he thought he was taking a risk.
Firstly, Mourinho broke the stronghold of arguably the greatest club side of all time in Spain, so I've no idea what the **** you're waffling on about there (and I suspect you don't either - as per ) Kalas was playing CB, up against this seasons Player of the Year, 30 goal Suarez, not Pug the full back. In any case try actually reading the thread, as I only mentioned him as Frank was trying to suggest that Mourinho couldn't get a defensive performance of the same level out of your CB's, which is absolute rot, given the fact that he got a PL debutant to deliver one with aplomb.
As G said Astro any manager could do it, apparently, despite our squad being so average to the point we weren't going to remotely make top 4. I believe Tobes even stated his team would finish above us again early on....despite all that, Rodgers is a fraud....he's just tricked us all into believing we are top of the league with two to play....we're really still down in seventh...it's all smoke and mirrors and distraction......I mean there's no way a manager Tobes rates as below average could take a seventh place team and make them league competitive. Is there. So if course anyone could do it, despite them choosing not to with "better teams"...? Ahhh but we have Suarez....the player we didn't have a hope in hells chance of keeping because owners and managers (particularly ours dont forget) have no power over players.... Oh and we have Sturridge: the guy that wouldn't last a full proper season as he's an injury prone crock that only played well (like the rest of our team) when the season was over....I mean how could we lose with a striker so prolific that both Chelsea and Manchester City couldn't hold on to him......obviously Rodgers. That snake oil salesman hoodwinked them all ..... Mourihno who hasn't built a squad from the ground up in a decade....he could wander into our team and replicate our advances just like that.... He's obviously choosing not to do it at Chelsea just to spite, referees, the premier league, his boss...Man of principles that one... So glad that Tobes is here to correct my foolish ideas with his calm, unbiased reason.....
It seems Tobes has started channelling the spirit of Thatcher with his hatred of Liverpool and mistrust of the Irish
