The following are all OUT OF CONTRACT at the end of the this season... Green - I think i'd try to retain on an extension although i'd like to know what the **** we are doing with Cesar first Hill - again i'd try to retain for 1 more year as back up if we can Hughes - he's cover at best, not sure its worth retaining and maybe better for him he finds a new challenge Traore - I think i be inclined to let him go, depending on other signings Luke Young - LOL bye Jenas - Tough on him with the new injury, but he won't starve and is no use to us now cant realistically see him ever playing consistently again Faurlin - Dont know where is is with recovery, might be time to cut him loose as well, although if there is a chance we will ever get the old Ale back - Extend O'neil - Am undecided on him Ephraim - Time for him to move on permanently SWP - try not fall over on your way out son (EDIT - apparently has another year left ) Banayoun - Not sure what the score is with him - why have we got him on such a short contract, depending on the money i give him another year... AJ - Time to let him spend some time with another clubs physio Booby Z - Part of me says give him an 1 year extension... if he wants more he can **** off, although i still haven't forgiven him for karate kick in the Wigan game. JS Park - I doubt he even remembers who QPR are. The following have all got ONE YEAR LEFT Dunne - Keep he might make it. Henry - Keep but no immediate need to extend this any further at the moment Barton - Keep but cant see JB extending, i would think he will run it down and do a Bosman Mbia - If we go up keep, if we don't sell and get as much money as we can The following have all got 2+ years left Austin, Onuoha, Suk Young, Simpson, Phillips, Hoilett and i 'd keep them all no matter what division we are in. Taarabt - i think has some buy out clause in his loan deal - don't think we will see him again even if we go up. Granero - Tough one i'd try to sell but would be at a massive loss, otherwise loan out again to offset at least some of his daft wages. If we go up maybe give him another go. Remy - if we go up maybe we could keep him , but otherwise time to cash in and hope for bidding war he's worth more than his buy out clause. Diakite - Jesus who knows with him, stick him in the squad? send out on loan? call the men in white coats? Try and explain what a tackle is? Cesar - we cannot pay this ****er 50G a week to sit and do nothing, if no one else wants him i'd rather he played next season, maybe we don't extend Greens contract although TBH i prefer him. Currently On loan at QPR Carroll - started to see a bit more from him, but 2 years left on contract with Spurs I haven't seen enough that would warrant trying to buy him at Spurs no doubt nonsense valuation Will Keane - Return to sender Maiga - Return to Sender Kranjcar - Have seen some good bits now and again but his valuation will be nuts and has 2 years left on his current deal Morrison - only one year left on WHU deal, has been excellent would love to sign whether we go up or not, can see us getting out gunned on him though unless we are in the Prem. So to summarize, it doesn't matter whether we go up or not our squad next year has actually got quite a young strong spine but we will have many many players coming and going once again. Add to this the manager probably also changing means that once again we can prepare ourselves for a Journey into the unknown - so no change there then.
Thanks for this thread (putting all the info in one place) I tend to agree with you except I would like to keep Krancjar. I like him and think we'd have seen more from him with better organisation of the teams on match day. I am 99.9% sure that our team will be radically changed again before next season. It's already written on the wall. We haven't built a core team. We had a core team the last time we went up and that was smashed apart by foolishness. This time we don't even have a core to smash apart.
Green - Keep Hill - Keep Hughes - Go Traore - Keep Young - Go Jenas - Undecided Faurlin - Keep O'neil - Go Ephraim - Go Wright-Phillips - Go Benayoun - Undecided Johnson - Go Zamora - Go Park - Go Dunne - Keep Henry - Go Barton - Keep Mbia - Go
Thanks for this...interesting to see it all set out. Only certainty is that once again, we will see lots of changes in the squad, and not the stability that has been missing over the past couple of years. When will we learn from other clubs who have gone up with solid squads, kept them together, and progressed?
Thanks for this OP. I agree with you mostly. Exceptions are that Traore almost deserves a new one, he seems to be doing better, though he is injured too much as well. I'd lose O'Neill, BZ, and Dunne who all look well past it to me, and keep Krancjar who for me has been our most creative midfielder this season. You seemed to have forgotten the Irish international striker we got from Wolves, I've forgotten his name, probably best the Club forget him too!
Hill - again i'd try to retain for 1 more year as back up if we can People have been saying this for the previous two seasons and Clint ends up carrying the team and playing pratically every match, he will be probably be playing longer than Stanley Mathews at this rate
It all pivots on which league we are in next season as to who we keep or let go. I'd keep Green wherever we are, good keeper despite what Flyer says!
These should be the only ones left next August. Nearly got a team! ----------------------Green----------------------- Simpson----Onuoha---Dunne/Hill----Suk Young Phillips-------Barton-------Faurlin-------Hoilett ----------------------Traore*---------------------- ----------------------Austin----------------------- (* the only place left, so I put him there!) The rest should go. Adel and Remy will have clauses activated in their contracts. I hope we manage to get rid of the rest that are still under contract.
Whilst part of me relishes the allure of gaining a place in the Premier League via the playoffs, I worry that we may just require another season in the Championship to consolidate the club with a re-balanced, younger, invigorated squad with the desire & skills to work hard and win games, guided by a new manager, or we may just repeat the outcome of last time around. I'm sure this view would be counter to the massive financial incentive involved in promotion.
Exactly this. It's almost as if we want him to fail. And on the same strand the majority are recommending we keep Dunne, a player who has clearly tipped over the edge before our very eyes.
Clinton should only be "backup" if we find someone better. We haven't found someone better for 4 seasons. Dunne should be played like how Ledley King was; every other game.
wubbas right. swp is with us until the end of next season. I know he scored against the scum but I can't stand him.
Could SWP be tempted by a move to the US or Canada. The thought of him earning mega bucks for another year while doing SFA is stomach churning.
