Why are some people obsessed with having digs at Jozy?

One big difference between the two is confidence, Altidore has absolutely no confidence right now, Wickham is bursting with it.

Aside from his obvious lack of goals Altidore has played well for us, it's definitely not his fault we are where we are.

The defensive record is good, the chances created are about level with teams up to 8th in the league, so yes it IS Jozy's fault, shared equally with other none goalscorers.

As Jozy has played most games, then to say he is 'definitely not at fault' is absolutely extraordinary.

He's not a bad player, he's at the wrong club, in the wrong league, at the wrong time, in the wrong position, I'm sure he'll do ok back in Holland, or maybe France, or the USA.

I said it wasn't his fault, not that he wasn't at fault, as in he isn't the only one to blame, as some on here believe.

The service to him and all of the strikers has been poor, and I can't recall Altidore missing loads of easy chances, this is partially because his movement isn't good enough and he doesn't get himself into scoring positions enough but also because the service to the strikers is not good enough

Connor has come in and been really clinical in scoring with any reasonable sight of goal he has, which is brilliant

He'll go on to have a decent career.

    I'm sure he will.

Point you make about him not getting into the position is key, that's one of 2 things that make a striker, the other being finishing, which he can't do.

He has some lovely touches, and he clearly has some vision, but he just isn't gonna be a Premier League striker of any note.

My biggest annoyance in Altidore, by the way, is how easy he is knocked off the ball/over.

He's a ****ing unit, he should be bouncing people off him.

Seb Larsson and Jack Colback are both out of contract this summer and they deserve enormous credit for being so dedicated to the cause of club they expect to leave in the next few weeks.

But I have to say that Lee Cattermole really does deserve the utmost recognition for the way he has played in the last few months.

On Sunday, against Cardiff, he delivered a couple of stunning long-range passes to feet – the sort of skill and vision that no-one expects of him.

But it is all the usual areas in which he is expected to excel, in which he has really delivered.

You can’t put a measurement on the sort of motivational force and influential element he provides for the team and what we have seen in this recent Sunderland revival is Lee Cattermole at his best.

    .........................................

The wise words of Lord Rowell.
