I don't like Mourinho as a manager and his statements make me dislike him as a man. However, he does have 1 unique skill. Any decent manager/trainer can organise and drill his players to park the bus. That in itself is not a unique skill. Where Maureen is different is that he has managed to get 11 internationals to do it.

I like Rodgers as a manager and I trust that he will use this defeat as a learning process about both his players and his own tactics. That again is not unique. Putting those lessons into practice is not as common.

Nobody in their right mind would blame a manager for doing what is best for his team but Jose has slated West Ham and various other teams for using the same tactics. 19th century football I believe he called it, he has the right to play his park bus football if he wants but he doesn't have the right to slate other teams when his football is the worst in Europe.

It would be interesting to know what the ******ed Russian thinks, I cant imagine he would be too happy forking out the money he has to see them park the bus almost every game.

Who says he doesn't have the right to slate other teams...?
    Has he broken any laws?
    No.
He can do what he likes as long as it's legal.
People.of course, don't have to listen to him.
I stopped listening to him some time ago.

Such much nonsense in here. I guess when you only watch us a handful of games a season this is the sort of thing that gets posted.

We scored 10 in 2 games v our north London rivals in the space of a week. How is that bus parking? The ability to mix up the tactics is why Jose is a proven winner and BR is merely an apprentice at this stage.

And save for West Ham, please name the 'various' teams he has slated.

This goes back a few weeks from the same guy about pragmatism. Sometimes it is win/draw, get the result you need. Free-flowing footy could have waited a bit? Not Rodgers philosophy mind you but a draw would have kept everything in our hands.

Thoughts? Don't think it is saying we needed to park a bus but to maybe play it safe.

So we've scored more goals this season than anybody - so what! The majority of the posters are saying that Chelsea have a habit of playing more negatively than any of the other top teams and that is true. Mourinho has used the same tactic repeatedly with every club he has been associated with and that is true. They are also saying that they don't find that style of football to their taste and that is their prerogative.

You won. It worked. We have to learn from the experience. As with most meaningful lessons they tend to be painful. So I'll defend the right of people here to express views that help them recover their composure without having to satisfy you or other visitors.

Agree to some extent. But this season we have been beating teams that sit back for fun. Yes we lost, but it was to a heavyweight team with a million dollar budget. Its amazing to see us competing and getting results on par with these sides in the first place! And remember we wearnt the best team yerterday but we only lost due to a freak mistake.

I am replying due to the thread apon thread I see of those talking about Rodgers being bested. Looking at our side, where we were at the start of the season and where we are now, this is slightly unfair.

He parks the bus in every single big game hes involved in, he was ran out of Madrid for parking the bus because they don't stand for it.

He invented the phrase parking the bus after a Spurs game a few years back so its highly ironic that this is now his plan A in every big game.

First paragraph is incorrect, wins will gurantee we finish above Chelsea.

I believe Hull and Southampton also beat us. Are they also smarter tactically than Rodgers? I must have missed all the articles on that.

Sunderland and Crystal Palace recently beat Mourinho so are they better than the "genius"?

In what way did he devise this new cunning plan just to outwit us? It's the same plan he's tried to use all year, defend and hope.

It was one football match, if we'd played for the draw and got beat 1-0 to that mistake we'd be asking what Rodgers was thinking, changing our style this late, at home and with a defence statisticly this weak...."we should have played to our strengths " would be the cry.

Simply? Our usual strengths simply weren't very good yesterday, Suarez has been poor for 3 weeks, Sturridge looked like he hasn't really recovered, our Captain showed a worrying immaturity. Coutinho did his usual hot/cold flipping and shooting 15 yards left of goal he's been doing all season. And Sterling couldn't do it all on his own.

On another day Suarez would have been at his best or Sturridge would have been fit.

So bad day at the office and harsh but true, too many bad days over a season lose you a title. So far City have had one less.

All this tactical masterclass bollox is doing Mourinhos smoke and mirrors for him. It's making us look anywhere except at the fact his "genius" with a 300 million pound squad may only finish third in the league...behind his apprentice...so who in the end got that tactics more correct over the season????

Rodgers I assume will look at nothing but the next game just as he would have if we'd won. Fixing things or introducing plan b's and the players required for whatever competition will wait until the summer as it always was going to.

It's disappointing, yes but thems just the breaks.

    We go again.

Fixed for you. We certainly didn't park the bus in any of the home games, all of which we won. Including PSG and Galatasaray as well.

Tell you what, I would have killed (and still might) to have had Andy Carrol on the payroll yesterday. It's games like that where having a big lad pays dividends. That young Chelsea lad would not have liked having to mark him.

As much as I despise Mourinho and his tactics, we shouldn't lose sight of the fact that our attack underperformed on the day. They simply weren't that good.

But I look forward to next season - Rodgers will improve our attack further so we don;t need to rely on the likes of Aspas to change a game.

This is just the beginning. The fact that Mourinho felt the need to park the bus to us shows how far we have come.

It's not that bad really beating Arsenal, City, Liverpool, United, Tottenham, Southampton and Everton at home with pretty impressive performances at times.
