Such a puzzling team. We have been brilliant is some games and woeful in others. Cattermole has made terrible errors at times but has been the heart and bite of the team. Johnson has been both sublime and ridiculous. O'shea and Brown have been solid to turgid. Ki has been great, then bang out of form. Larsson dreadful for most of the season then brilliant when he has come back in. At times this season it has looked like we had the worst midfield in the league at the moment the look fantastic Has the lack of a striker for so long made them look worse than they are? Many times this season we have played good football but lacked someone to score a goal. Especially at home. How important a goal scoring outlet is!!! Wickham will have a dip in form at some point and I hope the crowd support him but hopefully that won't be for a long time. We still have 3 games to go and confidence is a big factor and we are full of confidence however I am counting no chickens.
I've said all season that we have a good team somewhere in an average squad. You only have to look at our bench which is better that when we finished 7th. Once Poyet has the breathing space he needs we will be a good side.
Spurs wouldn't risk him after one season in the PL, West Ham wouldn't tempt him & Swansea can't afford him. Other than those 3 I can't see where he'd go tbh. Anyway, most of the rumours and groundless and started by idiots on here
well mate it just shows how we have different opinions.i actually think if you look at the start of the season we had a pritty good squad and the player selected didn't performed to there best.
We have a few talented players in an otherwise average to poor squad. Hopefully in the summer a lot of those average/poor players will be replaced by talented ones.
We've had bad runs where we were very bad and good runs where we have been very ggod. At this stage of the season, you can't argue that we are in a false position. With the bad runs being worse than the good runs being good. There is something crucial there though, the makings of a good team. Whether this is potential is realised is anoyther matter of course.
The league table doesn't lie especially after 35/36 games.......but saying that bad management can damage even the best companies. So say we took 7 to 8 points from the first 5 games which is about what we should at least look for id say a mid table team between 9th and 14th.
We have some very capable players, we also have very inconsistant players, we've still got poison running through the squad, we've got a good half dozen players on permanent contracts who don't deserve to wear the shirt (though a lot of them will leave the club). Rebuild is still desperately needed and we'll have another relegation scrap next season even if the rebuild takes place as we'll have more wholesale changes with lots of new personal coming in. Rather this rebuild happen while we're a prem team and that is looking much more likely now, so can't complain, Gus seems to have sussed the problem which is a relief, got to be happy considering our situation. I'm under no illusion though, as good as we've looked recently there's been double the game if not more where we've been embarrassing. Big summer this.
I agree totally- although the frst time I read this I thought it said "Big Summer Tits" and I was hoping for a link...
Good or bad? The table doesn't lie. A few decent players, a utter **** squad, when they decide to play, there is some quality. The club is a shambles though, a massive rebuild for the next seasons Prem.
