Usually when you use a simile, you pick something obvious, but I can't see any similarity between what you describe and Arsenal's title challenge this year, quite apart from getting the impression that it is vaguely offensive. I'm also not familiar with a situation where a clumsy ******ed kid leads a race and trips. I'm not sure what would run through my head in that situation, but I'd like to think, "The kid bottled it" wasn't it! You also probably missed the words "to an extent" in my post. Edit: This is just another example of how your section on this forum seemingly have to disagree with almost everything I write, in the strongest possible terms, often making no sense whatsoever. Very often without properly reading what I have written, who it is in response to, and often derailing the thread. I am at a complete loss to see how what I wrote elicited the necessity to compare the club we "support" to a "clumsy ******ed kid". Do you really feel that way and if so, why the hell do you say you support Arsenal?
TT... You've made your reputation on here... Either put up with replies like that or work to change your reputation.
I'm so very glad the righteous have cut their sabbaticals short to come back to the forum and set matters straight on who is a true Arsenal fan. And now, here's some visual aids on the topic of "not bottling it": http://www.keithxm23.com/race/index.html
Did Stevie G really say after the Man City game "this does not slip now"? That would be hilarious given what happened this afternoon!
Back on topic please. What do people think about the relegation fight ? I've Just watched Sunderland on MOTD, they destroyed Cardiff today and they go to Man Utd next. They won at Stamford Bridge last week and on the back of another win they'll go to OT full of confidence. Cardiff looked doomed and Solskjaer looks like an unlucky manager to me. Fulham's little revival looks like it's come off of the rails too, but the team I'm most interest in though is Norwich. They go to Chelsea and I think they'll lose, so that last game against us could be a death match for them and potentially make it a tricky away tie for us.
I thought the definition of "bottling it" was choking when you "should " have won, or when everyone expected you to win, or when you were favorite to win. To my mind, I don't remember any time in the last 3 years when we were ever in a position where very many people thought any of those things. Judging by your posts this season, I don't get the impression that you thought any of those things. But I guess you obviously hold our manager and team in very high regard if you were expecting them to win, thought they should win and considered them favorites to win. Back to the topic though, as Liverpool should win from here, and are expected to win, and are favorites to win, if they lose it , they will indeed have bottled it good and proper!
Hopefully then by the time we face Norwich we have 4th place secured, and then we can sit back and relax and enjoy. We could even rest some players for the cup final and give Diaby a run out. This season at home we have been good in generally beating the teams we should be beating, and Newcastle and WBA certainly fall into that category.
I agree. With Everton losing Arsenal can hopefully wrap up top 4 before the final match. Tonight has become a vital game to get some distance between Arsenal and Everton, as psychologically that can have a big impact.
I predicted Sunderland, Cardiff and Fulham near the start of the season. Looks like I'll be getting 2 of them right, Cardiff and Fulham are gone. Norwich might well get 3 points in their final game if we've already secured 4th..
Everton have to play City next too. If we win tonight and Everton fail to beat City then we can go into our game against WBA knowing that a win will secure 4th.
I want us to win all our games remaining (duh) because we finally look to have a little bit of our spark back. Even were 4th secured before the Norwich match I'd still like to see us go all out to win and keep our momentum going for the FA Cup final. I'm a bit disappointed in the way things are panning out down the bottom though as I've a soft spot for both Norwich and Fulham and think both are in serious trouble.
poor old United in dread , ONE win , under a new caretaker grandad and hes already spouting ******ed crap. Are the Manure the MOST deluded fans on Not 606 now. Gotta be close. "Stinks on the Liverpool and Arsenal boards. The distinct aroma of fear. they know we wont make the same mistake twice " what a bell end he is. #funnierthanmetth
dopey Manure keeper speaks out..... Lindegaard has compared Giggs to Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola. "It might sound pretty rash and naive, but, in my opinion, we are dealing with a new Guardiola," "What we have seen in the first week has been more than convincing."
That is some pretty sycophantic ****e right there. To be comparing Giggs to Guardiola after one game beating Norwich at home
