Few of you would remember this but I do and I was there: http://www.hullcity-mad.co.uk/feat/...to_stop__hull_city_v_vasas_317131/index.shtml I believe that they were unbeaten after playing Wolves, Arsenal and Manchester City and there was a media outcry asking for the match to be canceled as it would be a disgrace to British Football playing a lowly team like Hull City. The rest is History.
Yes I am old enough to remember it and frequently bore my mates when recalling it. It was a massive result for City!
My old man was reciting that story to me the other day. I had no idea, I knew about the floodlights and apparently playing host to a few of the continents big sides for the odd friendly because of them but didn't know about this cup and similarly had no idea a Hungarian team were ever so big! It's never mentioned is it...
As an aside....whatever happened to James Lodge?.....initially he used to write some interesting stuff, then he descended into Walter Mitty land and then became No.1 Allam basher. Since we got promoted he's disappeared off the radar.
I was wondering the same thing, he became an open sore on the Hull Daily Mail forum, that is why I came onto here.
