Just checked the Premier League's all time best value strikers... Anelka £500k van Persie £2.75m Cantona £1.2m
Apologise for what? All I have seen is folk discussing his form which has only recently (Wembley on) taken a turn for the better. This is all that counts at the end of the day; as someone else says, Long has not been a 10 goal a season PL striker, but there is no reason he will not be (on track for 12/season pro rata) Did you really have to remind us all.
For us and WBA averages 9.3 goals every 38 games. Not a million miles away from 10 goals a season. For every Michu there's a Ghilas.
Absolutely. He's looked far better these last few games, but that comment was made before these last few games when he couldn't trap a bag of cement or hit a bus on a bandstand with a biscuit barrel with any sort of regularity. And I was far from the only one criticising his terrible technical ability, so funny you single me out.
I still really don't like watching him play. You have to respect his movement into great positions and work rate but as a technical footballer he is terrible, watching him compared to someone like Sagbo there is a massive gulf in how well they control the ball and look to play through balls. I'd never get on his back about it and as long as he is scoring goals he is doing his job. The main problem is that when he goes through patches of not scoring he will not really be contributing to the team like Sagbo/Long/Aluko would. Again I'm not having a go at him and will always fully support him but that's just an honest look at his abilities.
That's what I've said. I've never criticised his work ethic, physicality or intelligence on the pitch. In fact I've only ever given those parts of his game the highest praise, which is what they are worthy of. I get annoyed at some of his poor touches but being realistic, if he had the technical skill to complement all the rest he wouldn't be our player, he'd be at one of the top four or a champions league team somewhere.
What complete ****ing tosh. The manner in which he has played in "these last few games" has been no different to the way he's played since he joined us. I "singled you out" because you were the only one who passed such an insulting comment. You're no better than that HullCityAFC **** who called Steve Bruce a "thick, fat ****" yesterday when we went 2-0 down. No. You just called him a "Croatian donkey". It's bad enough that you insult one of our own players; it's even worse when you try to justify it. What a fadge you are.
Says the person disliking posts without even attempting to pose a counter-argument, was anything I said wrong?
Except his touches have been far better, he's looked composed with the ball, not been sloppy and erratic... Just goes to show, in keeping with your belief that no one should have any opinion on anything to do with the actual game itself, that you don't even bother watching the football. If you did you might have noticed Jelavic has been far more consistent with the ball. One might wonder why you bother paying to turn up to watch a sport you clearly have zero interest in. Oh, wait, you don't
