Anyhow, gonna go to bed now and try to get some sleep but it may be hard after my unplanned siesta during the Town match, it was that boring zzzzzzzzz!!
Thats the problem though spanish, we have just had our best finish for 5 odd years, and are acting like we are relegated. They wind themselves up just because we have the gall to support a manager who has had a fantastic 18 months and just keeps progressing the club. Its not pretty i accept, but its bloody effective when you have zero backing.
If we finish out side of the top 10 this season it matters not IMO, it's still been a good season of progress and I can't see how anyone can say Mick hasn't done a good job in terms of league positions, how we've been competing for the playoffs nearly all season, spent no money and he has stabilised us from being relegation candidates. You all know the frustrations I have with him because I don't think he uses the talent he has to it's full potential, he's too contented, there's never enough twisting he sticks too much and I'd like to see him work with talented players rather than just average workers. This is nothing on Keanes tenure and in terms of doing the basics well we are light years ahead of Jewells era. That's the thing under Mick the opposition (fans or staff) are never going to rave about our performances like perhaps they did under Burley, Royle, Magilton and even Jewell to a certain extent because we're not going to play teams off the park and you're not going to hear them say "they're the best team we've played all season" because that's not Mick style but most games we play in will be tight and unfortunately this often doesn't make a good spectacle because we can often make the opposition look average meaning it looks a very average game. I can see how you get frustrated with Mick, I find him infuriating sometimes but I can't see how your expectations could've been higher than what we have achieved this season given the circumstances
I think that is a genuine frustration with how Mick plays doesn't sometimes seem to have that drive to go for the jugular, he always sticks and doesn't twist
So basically the answer to my question is yes the goalposts have been moved, thought so, lmao!!! I recall most saying top ten is the natural progression and what we need to aim for!! Cant be wrong hey guys, just move the goalposts a little to make ourselves seem to be right in oue expectations etc, and you Warky call them on Twtd cretins!!!
The only cretin on here is you Spanish, if you really cant see that being in the play off mix all season is progress in comparison to the last few years of trying to avoid relegation, then there really is no hope for you, its not blinkers you are wearing, its a ****ing mask.!
Oh and a couple of other things, how your beloved Mick can say he was delighted with the performance, after sats defeat, is beyond belief and do you really think that watching that dross is gonna bring the crowds back? Attendances will drop and that will mean ME will tighten the purse strings even more!!
Goal posts haven't moved although I wished they did in certain games I think you have to look at it in that we have been in and around the playoffs all season, now that is huge progress given what we've done in the past few seasons and the money we've had to spend and our squad. Mick rarely criticises his team in public, which is good man management (although you can certainly tell the players who are out of favour, usually the ones with a bit of flair) but I do think he tends to judge the team and players in terms of play without the ball rather than with it. He seems to rate a good performance as one where we've limited the team to only a few chances and kept our shape well rather than in terms of what we do with the ball, that's just a bonus. I usually rate how we've played and how players have played with the ball rather than without it
