First off well done everyone for the most well reasoned and well written thread on here for ages particularly the excellent input from Super and Lone. Great to see that there are still some excellent contributors as well as the spoilers (you know who you are). I think the balance of opinion is spot on: what with all the unknowns of being relegated we would have happily taken our current this position at the start of the season but having had a fantastic (albeit somewhat lucky) start to the campaign and with TF continuing to offer excellent financial support we really should have done better. After the highs of our brilliantly organised defence in the first few months yet another tactical debacle yesterday underlines the source of the problem and clearly places the blame for this at HR's door. We really do need him to move on no matter what happens in the play-offs.

Now, this is where we disagree. You may be right, I may be right, but I can't remember more than 5 matches this season when we have played reasonably well. Let alone good.

You are correct IMO that the amount we are paying to HR & the players shouldn't come into it as we should be recieving & seeing 100% effort whatever they are paid. This is where we have a problem. My perception is that I have seen & heard a management team going through the motions & not accepting that they MIGHT not actually be achieving. The perception I have received from some of the players (not all) is that they do not care about the results or performances & are just waiting for the season to end. giving off an air of "we are better than playing in this league".

The worst thing of the lot though, is that these are the same players that HR is likely to select forst.

What a preposterous question. Your level of debate was never good but its reduced to pathetic levels now.

Maybe its time you take a break from here until the Playoffs are over.

The table doesn't lie. We have played at a level that has got us 4th place, in a league of 24 clubs. So by definition there's 20 clubs that have played at a level - over the season - worse than us. Luck might xcome into it, but the old adage 'the table doesn't lie' is true.

Flyer, why don't you put everyone out of their misery and put in to action your threats of stopping supporting the club.

How can you possibly support a team you haven't got a positive thing to say about? I find people such as yourself as more of a problem to the club than rednapp ever will be and no matter how bad we. It may not be enjoyable seeing the team play badly, but then you can count the number of good seasons we've had in the 40 years I've supported us, good, bad or indifferent. That's what supporting a team is about, making the most of a bad game and enjoying it regardless! It's about the team, no matter the performance, the division, the manager or the players. You have absolutely no idea about support and quiet frankly I find you bullshit an offence to this board, it's for supporters of our football team something you clearly aren't!

Yeah right, someone moaning on a message board is worse than a clueless idiot in charge, a quarter of a billion debt etc

    Get a grip.

Excellent post Soops, excellent; a perfect assessment of our season to date. Thank you.

I agree with all of this and totally disagree that we have played good football this season. There is little doubt that our results have been good, far better than our football has deserved, don't confuse the two. Ultimately it is only the results that count as far as the table is concerned and that is clearly enough for some, but I feel they should give more credence to the views of the long suffering Loftus Road regulars who have watched some abysmal, almost attritional, football. The day I accept that football is purely about the result is the day I stop going.

Spot on Aaaagh and Roller. This is precisely why I have only been to 6 or 7 games home and away this season. After the Sheff Wed and Birmingham home games early in the season it was clear to me that we would not be good to watch this year. After a few more tries I essentially gave up, I rarely watch when we are TV or a decent stream is available.

At this stage though this season is all about results as it's too late to salvage the performance side. A couple more scrappy 1-0's and a draw and we are there. Posted on another thread that'll I'll be getting an ST again next year - we'll either have the drama of a Prem battle or a fresh start in the Championship, both exciting.

One thing I don't get is this "we have underperformed" view. In my opinion the players have performed pretty much as expected. They simply isn't any better. Wages and transfer fees doesn't always corelate and is not a measurement of quality. For the big clubs making the big signings, yes. For us trying to buy our way upwards, no. We pay over the odds for older players.

And for those critising the old players for being old, and then next demanding them to outrun and outplay younger players. Sorry you can't have it both ways.

Regarding the ones who regularly go to games, you have my sympathy for what you've been served up. It is very easy to sit behind a keyboard and be happy with results when you don't watch and worse, pay to watch poor football week in week out. But I'm afraid the economic constraints on our club forces a very pragmatic approach about getting back to the Premier League. Something I believe transmits from top to bottom throughout the organisation and creates a less than ideal atmosphere around the club.

I'm a season ticket holder and I'm still trying to work out how we've managed to slide ourselves into fourth place: it doesn't feel like that sort of successful season! I can hardly recall a single game that I could call truly enjoyable. Ok, we've ground out some decent results and, sure, I enjoy winning but the style of play has been very disappointing. Back in August 2013, I would have happily accepted our position in the table but I do want something more from a QPR team and I can't dispel the feeling that a manager and team with their pedigree (and payroll cost) should produce something better. I honestly can't see us winning the play offs but, of course, I'll be hoping and praying that we do.

And I'll be there next season, come what may.

Grinding out results is something we've always found very difficult to do - and that's been part of the problem. Flair and Grit don't easily go hand in hand, and if you want to get points by winning games we would historically have lost, and prevent players heads going down when we concede - which IS an area we've generally been much better at this season, coming back from behind - then often you've got to put the pretty stuff to one side. It doesn't look good, but it's got us to the playoffs.

We have played good and enjoyable football just couple times this season. Majority of the matches i've seen have been all the same. The opposition team keep on the pace and played with their guts out and its enough to make us look like pub team. Thankfully our players have much better skill level and that has saved us few times. When we then lose our biggest goalscoring assett through injury things did go bad to worse. Now he is back but still i dont fancy our chances in the play offs because the other playoffs teams could match our skill level and could be better tactically. Anything is possible but i wouldnt hold my breath. Then again as flyer said earlier if we dont go up we at least get another manager and after arry im positive that the next one is better.....
