Having beaten Liverpool at Anfield today, Chelsea have kept themselves in the PL title hunt, just 2 points behind the Reds. So any hope that they would not be 'up for it' next weekend, has just been blown out of the water, and another ridiculously tough away game awaits the Canaries. I guess all we can hope for is that we still have a chance of escape on the last day - as I don't see anything coming our way at The Bridge. An awful result for us today.
us you and Cardiff are gone simple as that, we through away a 2 goal lead to a freak goal, don't deserve to be in the prem
I feel that 35 points won't be enough for us as we can only overtake Sunderland with that. Imagine if we beat Chelsea but lose to a last minute own goal at home to Arsenal...that would be gutting.
Certainly now looks that way. Sunderland have done well to drag themselves out of the bottom 3 and I have little doubt they will get more points before the season end.
I said to my son as Liverpool-Chelsea kicked off "I have a little nag-ging doubt about this one" And sure enough Jose's Little Horses came up with it.Handed the title to Citeh I reckon.
Probably not but there would have been a slight increase in optimism if Chelsea had nothing to play for, which I fear has just died today.
We have had it. It would frankly take a miracle for us to get out of it. We would need to draw and win one of our final games.
As has been pointed out we needed to be safe 3 games ago really. That is why I can't bring myself to blame Neil Adams, poor sod. Didn't have a chance really did he? I hope his good name is not tainted by all this and he stays on at the club after all this bollocks. I think it's gonna be Malky time. There are some people on here who are even trying to say that had we kept Hughton we would of stayed up! Crazy! Were not getting Relegated because Neil lost the last 3 games, one away to our bogey team and the other 2 away to Manchester United and home to Liverpool. We're getting relegated because of the 32 games or so before where in most of them we were not even in the same ball park.
Sorry but that is just wrong. When Hughton was dismissed there was daylight between us and the bottom 3 (5 points wasn't it?) and certainly if you look at Hughton's win %, record at home, record against the big teams I think it is entirely reasonable to say he would have picked up some points in the last 5 game and kept us up.
I have attacked the sacking of Hughton but I don't think he could have changed the outcome in view of the Sunderland renaissance. We needed to be on 36 at the start of the four match run in to have any degree of confidence.
It doesn't really matter does it lad and lasses about who was right and wrong. The next step forward that the club is retaining as many of the players as possible who will be good championship players and getting someone who unites the whole club. I hope it isn't Neil Adams because he is relatively clueless, (simply because he has no experience). having said that I'm hoping against hope that somehow when I'm at carrow road for the final game of the season, I'll be witnessing a victory to stay up. It is just a pipe dream, but that's all that left
Fair enough. We may disagree but at least we can leave it that I wonder if it could still be in our hands for the last game of the season against a side on the beach with the atmosphere and what not?
I think it might be mathematically possible at the start of the game, at least that would give the game a bit more spice
When Hughton left we were on fire and nose diving down to earth with no parachutes ! The only difference if he'd have stayed would be we'd have lost by bigger margins. This is just a stick to beat the Hughton outers with because you know it can't be proved either way!
I don't really want to get into argument about this but you say it can't be proved either way yet you also claim that if Hughton was still here we would have lost by bigger margins; surely that is something that can't be proved either way again! The difference is that my opinion is worded as such (and I have tried to back it up with an argument) yet you state yours as if it is fact. For the record BTW it isn't a stick to beat the Hughton out brigade with either. I would much rather we stayed up under Adams (and as a result my reservations about the managerial change be unfounded) then get relegated and also I actually agree Hughton had to go - he was so unpopular with many fans his position was untenable but I thought we should of waited until the end of the season. So therein lie my objections; not that we got rid of Hughton but the timing of it (and IMO reducing our chances of staying up) and that people on here are continuing to blame Hughton for the games we are losing under Neil Adams.
I find it somewhat amusing when people sneer at premiership clubs when their own club has no chance whatsoever of playing there It is analogous to Farage and UKIP promising this and that when they have no chance of ever forming a government and making good on their promises.
