Cup replay on a Tuesday night. Much bigger crowd then normal which City were not prepared for. Entrance to the main part of the ground was via the tenfoot behind the South Stand, because for some reason no access was available from Boothferry Road.
It was teeming down with rain and the tenfoot was flooded, also huge queues down North Road trying to enter the ground via this tenfoot and the South Stand turnstiles.
The South Stand terrace was heaving and because of the spiked perimeter fencing around the pitch no-one could move anywhere else. Bit like Hillsboro but without the tragedy.
The situation was made worse by the club/police enforcing the membership scheme for entry into Kempton, which was also only accessible from the South Stand. So the terrace was heaving, there were hundreds if not thousands trying to get into the ground via a flooded tenfoot, and no-one would allow an overspill into the virtually empty East Stand. I believe the membership was set at 250 that night.
The game ended in a draw.

Thanks for the post. Fans not being let down the Kempton side rings a bell now you say it. I remember being relieved when I got past the metal gate out of the front of the South Stand at the end of the match. Total focus on crowd control, no thought of fan safety.
