Don't know about that. Still not convinced though he took his pen well. Was busy all game and played some good through balls but don't think he's an out and out goal scorer though.

Always good to see an ex-Swan on the team sheet. <devil>

No fighting spirit and defiantly no defense to speak of. I expected better from cardiff than that. they were second best in every department in that game and tan had better sort it out or they will struggle in the championship for sure with that team.

Look - rules are rules and if thats is what they say (which it seems it is) then fair enough.

I still maintain there is enough greyness there (the fact that cala's hand was inches if that inside the area when the foul finished, the fact that marshall was practically on top of Wickham forcing him wide, the fact that dowd played on) to not effectively end the game as a contest. Such margins for error have been used against us in not penalising/sending off opponents all season, are used on big occasions, and there's not a snowballs chance in hell the same punishment would have been dished out to a top team chasing a premier league title.

The idea of sending off a player for a 'professional foul' comes from the idea that defenders deliberately foul attackers because the punishment of a freekick is one they are prepared to take rather than the chance of conceding. In such circumstances it is right that a defender should be sent off.

A player would never deliberately foul an attacker inside the area (apart from suarez like handballs to prevent goals in world cup matches) because the punishment of a penalty is not one they would take rather than the chance of conceding, as a penalty is a pretty damn good chance of conceding..

I am of the opinion that Cala deliberately fouled Wickham, because he knew he was outside the area, and deserved to be sent off.

I also think, though, that rules need looking at. A penalty is a goalscoring opportunity. If penalties are awarded, it feels wrong and unnecessary to send players off aswell unless it is a handball on the line type foul.

Yes I know I am biased. I know that incident wasnt why we lost. But it just felt wrong.

The pen would not have made any difference to the winners at the end of the day. cardiff were awful from start to finish and never looked like they were playing a game that could have saved their premiership status. Heads should roll in the next few days.

I don't think Tan will be around to sort this out. He'll cash in and run away. Not good for CCFC.
