it was a gamble worth taking.. Im surprised that Everton and WBA thought that those 2 were surplus to requirement.
West Brom probably should've kept Long, i agree with you. Everton have better players than Jelavic. Either way they both got a **** load from selling them to us.
imagine if we didn't buy them and we went down? I think the premiership money covers what we paid for them.
In attempting to explain your stupid remarks about Long and Jelavic, you've just made yourself look more stupid. It would've been better if you'd just admitted that you were talking through your sphincter all along.
Can anyone who are calling Jelavic and Long over price name a proven Premier League striker in there prime in last two years who cost less? Dwight Gayle £6m, Jordan Rhodes £8m, Jay Rodriguez £7m, Connor Wickham £8m all had never or hardly played in the Premier League before signed and cost around what we paid for Long and Jelavic.
Not really coz it's the truth and I stand by it. Besides the post of mine which you filled your nappy over was saying you expect a bit more from a player after paying £7.5m and expect them to at least hit the target after Jelavic had missed another sitter from about 3 yards out.
Very unlikely. You just don't get "proven Premier League strikers" for £7 million these days. Rodriguez payed off this season though. 15 goals for 7 million? Bargain.
He is now, but the time he'd never played a Premier League. He'd had two decent season's in the Championship when Soton signed him.
There's a trend amongst those you listed, the reason for their high prices, which excludes Jelavic and Long. They were all very young when moving for those fees and showing phenomenal potential. None of them had ever played in the premier league either, so they are poor comparisons.
? oh I see, the childish tags at the bottom of the thread.. I can't wait till some of you children start pubety.
Phenomenal is pushing it. My point is you could of gone and got potential from the Championship for the same as what we paid for Long and Jelavic proven scorers in the Premier League. Look at what Sunderland paid for Stephen Fletcher. We got Long and Jela for not much more. I'm struggling to name any 10 goal a season Premier League Strikers that cost less then £8m in the last 3 years. It's the going rate we paid.
And what's even better is.... We'll have a full season of them next year and they won't be cup tied! With a few new additions and probably another back up striker. Happy days
Grant Holt. He only cost £2m (although he's almost certainly never going to score 10 a season in the top flight again).
