Boruc - 8 - Saved anything that came at him, distribution was okay. Wasn't really tested but you can't ask for much more. Shaw - 8.5 - Pretty solid in defence. Got up the pitch frequently, his final ball is improving but still not brilliant today. Lovren - 8.5 - Dealt admirably with most of Everton's attacks. Fonte - 8 - Pretty much equally as good in defence as Lovren, but he lost the ball through some bad hoofs at times although that's me being picky. Clyne - 9.9 MOTM - Fantastic defensive performance, he bossed it all game and only let his man in once. Very very good offensively as well, probably his best game for the club. Cork - 9 - Fantastic job in midfield, was perhaps a bit slow in releasing the ball going forward. Wanyama - 9 - Same as Cork. Lallana - 8 - Kept everything ticking over nicely, no moments of magic but was a constant threat. Davis - 9 - Very good job linking midfield to attack. Gallagher - 7 - Wasn't terribly impressive. Didn't really do anything wrong but he rarely won a ball in the air and didn't seem to have the pace to get beyond the defence. Could put a lot of that down to nerves though. Lambert - 8 - Did alright, but was guilty of overplaying a little. Won a lot in the air. JWP - 7 - Came on and protected the left well, often slotting in at left back while Shaw rampaged forward.
Boruc - 7 Clyne - 9 Fonte - 7 Lovren - 8 Shaw - 7 Wanyama - 9 Cork - 9 Davis - 9 Lallana - 6 Lambert - 8 Gallagher - 6
We won a game that I didn't think we would. I very much enjoyed it. Our performance was simply a 10. End of.
Have to give Gallagher time. He looks like a giraffe...may just be growing into his body. He galumphs along, but I think he is faster than he looks. If anyone can provide the finishing touches, it is Mauricio and the other coaches. Pleased with the team as a whole.
Not sure about no moments of Lallana magic; the way he jigged along the touchline in the second half was pretty magic. Apart from that about right
I agree on all except Galagher's mark, he wasn't as low as 3 points less than some of the others, he showed some nice touches and link up and certainly did his share of closing down from the front....he was no less than a 7 for me in a very good team display.... The midfield were all superb as were the full backs and Rickie has one of his more influential games. If there is a more versatile player than Cork, Ive yet to see him, he seemed to revel in the freedom that playing alongside Vic afforded him. Edit....I'd give Luke and Adam an extra point too
Boruc - 6 - didn't really have anything to do. Distribution was good but he nearly let a Baines cross float over his head and into the net! Clyne - 9 Fonte - 7 Lovren - 8 - kept Lukaku quiet but a bit lucky not to concede a penalty. Shaw - 7 Cork - 8 Wanyama - 8 - one of his best games for us. Davis - 8 Lallana - 6 - quiet by his standards. Lambert - 7 Gallagher - 6 - didn't offer too much but pressured the Everton defence well.
Boruc - 6 Clyne - 9 Fonte - 7 Lovren - 7 Shaw - 7 Wanyama - 9 Cork - 8 Davis - 9 Lallana - 6 Lambert - 7 Gallagher - 6
Feeling too lazy to rate them all, but Clyne, Davis and Wanyama were the stand outs for me. Davis was looking like Lallana's stunt double for much of the match today, incredible feet.
Very tough to choose a MOTM out of Clyne, Davis, Cork and Wanyama. And it looks like most others thought all four had a great game. Pleasing to see the combination of Cork - Wanyama work.
I prefer the tactic/formation I invented at this exact moment known as 'The Swarm' - ........................Boruc ............Clyne Fonte Lovren Shaw Reed Morgan Cork Wanyama Davis Ward-Prowse Primary tactic would I guess be just piss off the other team until they give up.
Boruc - 7 Clyne - 9 Fonte - 7.5 Lovren - 8 Shaw - 7.5 Wanyama - 9 Cork - 9 Davis - 9 Lallana - 6 Lambert - 7.5 Gallagher - 6
