Don't know if the Davies hand ball was mentioned in the match thread, but what did anyone think to it? Was it the ref thinking it didn't see it? He was off balance? Or was just evening up the no pens after Long's in the 1st half?
Me too, however it does look like his elbow goes into Long's back which off balances him at speed, so slight sympathy for him, I just see other strikers hitting it before going down, only really Suarez doing that & relating any of our players to Suarez is never a good thing. I also think if he'd jumped up & shouted instead a of laying down then it would have been given.
By the way, was I the only person who saw Long get fouled near the end? That was a stonewall pen as well.
I had a great stream, currently got Utd v Norwich on a good one too. Although I think also the Internet in Florida is better here.
Very embarrassing, it's been mentioned several times this week with soft pens for other teams & we don't get them, this is why. It may have even been in the refs mind with the Long pen.
From the close up replay on the internet feed, it looked like it was a flick header back to Harper, not a hand-ball. I know his arm was up and it did look at first sight like it was his arm. Only saw it once though so I might be completely wrong. No-one appealed on the pitch and no-one else looked at all bothered. The ref had a good view of it.
Nah he mistimed his jump, arms flailing & it caught his outstretched left arm, you could see him looking at the ref wondering how he'd got away with it. Got my laptop linked to the TV so saw it clearly.
Davies will be mighty relieved. Got his jump wrong and arms in the air. Luckily it brushed his hand only. If it had of been a bigger deviation it would probably have been given.
Penalties should only really be given on clear goalscoring opportunities, though that was the case with the Long incident.
If it's just a foul in the box rather than stopping someone scoring then they can have a free kick in the box. I know people adore the diving that goes on these days, I myself would rather watch other things like trying to score.
