Everyone has been saying a top ten finish would be good and what was expected, now if we finish outside the top ten then that is a poor season and questions should be asked, especially as a few games ago the 6th spot was in our own hands. Im guessing you will all move the goalposts and make excuses, IF, we finish outside the top ten!! My thoughts on today were, set up all wrong, if there were any tactics they were wrong but from what i saw there were no tactics. We are far too slow, we break at snail pace and if Skuse gets the ball we break backwards!! Burnley were there for the taking first half but we just looked clueless, this is the worst Town team i think i have ever seen, thank **** i missed the RK, PJ years if you all think we have greatly improved since then. I have been chatting to non Town supporting friends during the last couple of games and they thought we were abysmal and couldn't work out how we were so high up in the championship. Totally pissed off with the whole club at the moment and cant believe how backwards we have gone!!
Spanish I really can't be bothered to argue with you right now! Let me go for a bite to eat, a couple of pints and then I shall return all guns blazing!
Tbh Warky, i dont think even you can defend the last few performances!! I look forward to you coming back all guns blazing but tbh it wont change my opinion, not worth getting worked up over ol beauty!! One point out of the last poss 9 whenits really needed is gash!!
Well, my old Spanish, I don't know what you were on during the 1st half, but after the first 5 -10 mins we bossed the game, played decent stuff, had several chances and should have been 1 up at half time. The only Burnley supporter in the pub was impressed with us and not with his clarets. The glaring weakness was Williams had no-one to play to up front. Scuse when he came on was ineffective, scrappy Burnley goal and yes, Nouble did put himself about and played with energy and bustle. But we didn't keep up with things 2nd half and fell away. How we missed Goldilocks. So for me mate, a much more enjoyable season, seen some good performances...live ones too, felt quite proud if not ecstatic, and how good it has been to be in the hunt till last few games. I for one look forward to next season...and critically ME opening his cheque bk!
We bossed the game first half but created jack,, its all well and good having possedion but if you dont do anything with it...... As for asking me what i was on? I dont know but it must have been strong as i thought Skuse started!!
Well a season chasing a play off place is certainly better than trying to avoid relegation...IMO.. As for moving the goal posts it doesn't really make much difference now if we finish 7th or 12th.... ...time to look forward to next season so I think young Marriott should be starting next week with Mings in for Cresswell.
Agreed about mings and Marriot, just seen current league pos as it stands and at the moment we are 11th!! As for those that talk about progression, our midfield is the worst in the league, i dont call that progress!!
Hampy, the last few games have been a shambles, today we needed to win so why the negativity. I know why, its because bloody MM only knows one way and that is to try and not lose, the thing is, we had to bloody win today but that useless prick of a manager sets us up with about 7 defensive players in the team, its not bloody rocket science!!
I have had a little look warky and chuckled when i read your wind up comments!! I know they are how youu feel but i am sure you are spicing things up a little
The goal we gave away was ridiculous - we conceded it very simply because all of our players had been drawn to half of the pitch! We have been making mistakes like that for weeks, even in the games we've won. It's so easy to cut out by doing the basics which would mean our HARD WORK wouldn't be thrown away.
The other thing Spanish, is that this was the problem with Jewell, which McCarthy fixed when he came in, and has now gone to **** again.
Tbh warky i would have been far happier today if we had gone for it and lost 5-2 but that abject negative performance is infuriating!!
Wow, really looking forward to seeing Giggsy's Man United tonight and then Cardiff v Sunderland still to come!
You asked me this earlier in the the season Spanish but (without checking exactly what I said) my thoughts havnt changed, Top 10 is the positional target but if we dont manage - and it would be an injustice if we dont considering we've been there the majority of the season - it is still better to miss out after a season of pushing the play-offs than to miss out after a season running from relegation. In my "Where have we improved thread" I did come to the conclusion actual improvement compared to the McCarthy period last season is at best minimal, in fact after todays results the statistics will probably show regression, but the cold fact of the matter is we are now a much better position to sell ourselves as a promotion pushing squad to potential signings than we were a year ago.
Didn't hear the match today so I can't comment. I wanted a top half finish this season and it looks like that's what we'll get. I am a bit disappointed that we haven't thrown everything at it in the last couple of games and if we continue to play this way every match next season my patience with Mick taking us forwards will be tested. We have not looked like being relegated this season and have spent most of our time in the top ten, that is progress in a way but next season I think Mick needs to add some entertainment to the results to keep the majority of fans happy.
