He said that twice...as they said on BT, not exactly committing himself to us. That noise we can all hear...Les Reed smacking him round the ear!
I take it we'll be hearing from all the people that were going on about "no effort, no passion, season's over, predictable", to tell us that perhaps they were wrong and we have an impressive group of professionals. No....? No............?
I think everyone, including (especially) all of us are waiting to see what *really* is going to happen this summer.
If not just a new contract for Pochettino, it seems like a lot comes down to that, and that itself might come down to investment in transfers...
I think, not unlike us, with the change at the top, he is looking to see whether the ambition is going to be the same as before. The panel on BT Sport, led by idiot Humphries, just look at the surface because they have little interest in the detail.
I agree Fran (although the two cup losses against Sunderland were questionable). It's just funny how when we put in an iffy performance (Villa/Cardiff) we hear all about how the sun loungers are out etc, but then when we get a good, impressive win like today, the same people are mysteriously quiet.
Pochettino: "There were many positives out of that game. To highlight just one wouldn't be fair. There were many good aspects. In the overall analysis, we followed our style. We played the way we know how to play, and we were far superior to a team fighting to be in the Champions League. Mathematically, no it's not certified yet. We want to congratulate the players, technical staff and medical team because we have equalled that historic best Premier League season. I thought it was a very good game. We fully deserved the victory and played very well today. I thought we had an amazing game today. We also want to congratulate the fans today because we had a brilliant performance today."
Yeah, the good of it is that it appears for all the world that this is in our hands...the manager and players seem to want to stay if the club is willing to make the necessary commitments. Now, to make those commitments.
Mauricio was being asked about his future and just kept answering Ray Stubbs by saying how happy he was with the game today and how he wanted to congratulate various people associated with the club, from players to staff to fans.
Ha..! Mauricio totally sidesteps Ray Stubbs last two questions. This is where having David is so much of an advantage.
Well stone me..! The last comment the BT Sport panel make is that they hope the young Southampton team stays together, and David James reckons they will..! Now I've heard everything.
Mauricio just ignoring all questions about transfers and carrying on talking about the match...making David smile. BT interviewer says, 'God loves a trier' and getting a handshake from MP. Have to say the nice thing about BT coverage is that they are not trying to get rid of our players. Saying how much people like watching Southampton and this will attract attention for the players, but concluding that many players who have grown up together will want to stay here because something special is happening. Wish Adam had learnt from his manager and kept quiet...put a dampener on a very positive day.
Just got in from the game, very pleasant afternoon felt under no threat the entire game, which I suppose due to the early OG? Haven't read other posters but I thought Clyne had a great game, but Cork, Davis and big Vic were superb in the middle of the park, with maybe Jack just shading it? Not to sure yet about young Sam, but its a very difficult position to play and he has time on his side plus some very good teachers to learn from. Not 100% sure, but I think if Newcastle lose away to Arsenal on Monday we are guaranteed 8th spot?
Clyne was MOTM on BT...very pleased for him. We have done our bit for Arsenal, now they have to do their bit for us.
Right, I really must get to work again (dragging myself away from here is oddly difficult) - all in all a really good day and performance. I don't think there's anything said today that we didn't know. As Schad so rightly says, it's all about seeing if the commitment is there from the board from everyone's perspective now.
