Tough game today, but I think we can get at that defence. No Distin or Jagielka for the first time this season in the league I think, so it will be a test for Stones and Alcaraz together. Hope Rickie can grab a goal or two, and we can get back to creating lots of chances.
I don't think Alcaraz and Stones are any worse than Villa's and Cardiff's central back pairings. I'm affraid our attack is too blunted with Jay's injury to take full advantage of Everton's weakened defence.
Well Stones is good, isn't he. Possibly getting to the point where he's better than Distin anyway. Dunno about Alcaraz, but Martinez likes him enough to have bought him twice.
Alcaraz has been toss whenever I've seen him. Stones is really good though, so I'd not want to make light of him.
Stones is inexperienced though and has obviously benefitted from playing alongside a player like Distin. Not sure Alcaraz will (be able to) give him as much help.
Wow! great memories! I think it was "We support you Saints but what we want is a goal, We support you Saints but what we want is a goal, we want, we want a goal!...... We will stand and shout for more, more, more"
Stones has certainly impressed me on the handful of times i've seen him. Very composed on the ball, reads the game well. I have never seen him tested much with his aerial game. Not saying he is not competent but it could be a way in for us and that inexperience against Rickie could unlock the door. Lambert far post header anyone? Old School
