It seems Newcastle are interested in signing Will Keane. Interestingly, he was part of the ManUre youth cup winning team that also had Ravel Morrison and Paul Pogba, who is urging Juventus to sign Keane as well. Are we missing something here?...

Not the performances we've seen so far.

He wanted to emulate our other recent Man U acquisitions Macheda, Park and Da Silva and he's succeeded.

I think David McCreery was the last decent player we've had off of them.

Why? When we had Townsend and walker, we could all see what the had. Keane hasn't even got half the talent of macheda.

I think what we're missing is any evidence that he's a striker...

It reflects the legacy that Alex Ferguson left behind him.

No wonder David Moyes was on a hiding to nothing.

When we first saw Keane, the lad and I both thought he looked a decent player. Good touch and much better than Maiga. We haven't seen anything since to confirm this, but I wouldn't be surprised if he went on to be quite decent.

Let's face it, it's a numbers game at Manchester United.

Vacuum up as many young talented players, feed them into the club and a handful will spit out at the other end.

The success rate is minuscule, but it's seen as a cost of business. A gamble with limited returns.

As such William Keane is one of the also rans being part funded by QPR.

I was surprised at the lack of quality watching Federico Macheda away at Milton Keynes. As the fellow next to me reminded me; 'if he was any good, do you think Manchester United would have loaned him to us?'

Keane has done nothing with us, but I think he has a good touch and will become a good player. Something to do with our coaching?

I agree with these two. I see potential in his link up play, but do not see him as an out and out striker. Maybe a false number 9 and not really suited to our style of play (whatever that maybe!).

First game he played good touch, the rest dire and his performance @ Brighton was one of the worst I have ever seen from a Rs player, no confidence, bullied out of the game. Yes probably be England International in year or so!

I think anything with roman numerals attached was the last decent thing we got off them!

Bingo! Arry's playing him as a lone striker, leading the line where his favoured position is playing off the main striker.

That isn't always the case........Utd loaned Wellbeck to Sunderland for instance.

Macheda has just got something like 11 in 13 games for a team plummeting towards the relegation zone.

Maybe its just that we had/have **** managers?

I don't think that helps your case, he scored 1 in 4 playing for a top (well they were then) team.

I'd use walker and Townsend in that scenario, two players who went onto better things, wellbeck is just another fletcher, smalling , cleverly, a crap player who only gets caps because they play for man u.

During WWII, my Father served in the army with Matt Busby, and in the early 1960's he corresponded with him catching up on news and mentioned that I was a budding footballer, the captain of the primary school team.

Matt Busby responded with a nice note on Man Utd letterhead, that I wish I still had, indicating, "if your boy is any good, you know where to send him".

Of course that call never came, although back then I was a solid, functional right back, who loved to slide tackle and push forward, scoring a few goals.
