Surely its just a matter of time before he is officially announced as our manager!

Of course, only a matter of time. Expect him to be in place next 48 hours.

Just read this myself, very happy.

Hiddink in as DoF now and we have the dream team!!

I think this is the appointment we look back on in 5 years and say, that was one hell of a bit of business. I have a really good feeling about this. I just hope that he gets a bit of time and the chance to mould his own team.

yep i have a great feeling about this too.... i think its good that he is young.. he can relate to the players better imo. hopefully he will create a brilliant team.. other teams are already running scared though many people from all teams except united have wished us well and they hope we win the title ahead of the mancs!

why would you want hiddink as DOF? would he even want that position? hiddink would have his own targets and Boas would have his own targets..why hamper the poor man even before hes joined?

and on a side note, whose older? fat frank or villas boas?

Because Hiddink is vastly experienced and well respected around the game and can provide invaluable assistance, insight and contacts to help the club and Villas Boas who is a young guy just starting out. Obviously we dont want a conflict but I'm sure no-one would object to input from someone like Guus. Transfer targets should be the managers first and foremost but a DOF can assist.

having a DoF at odds with your manager was probably the reason you lost Jose. A DoF does nothing but seem to cause problems everytime one is employed. Villa-boas will probably be the best boss you've had since Mourinho, and, as a portugese, you know he'll speak English well.

Has having a DoF ever worked out for a club?

almost every club in the world has one , some just under a diffrent title. its just the UK that it wasint as ususal. the media would have you think that fergy runs mancheter united by himself , our set up is being reshuffled at the moment from manager to scouts.

its pretty common place for clubs to have an exsperanced person adviseing them, the most important thing is that the whole team is on the same page about where the club is heading.

Agreed. All Spanish and Italian clubs have people above the Coaches dealing with transfers, scouting etc. They dont seem to do to bad.
