Liverpool player or not, I have no sympathy for idiots that drink and drive, I lost one of my best mates when I was young due to an arsehole that was drunk behind the wheel.. Jail terms need to be handed out for twats that do this!
Sorry dave can't agree with that lost point. Vast majority haven't. I know I've never done it and never would. Most I've ever had is a half pint n that's with food. Don't touch alcohol if I'm driving. Can't understand why anyone would not only put their own lives at stake but anyone else that may innocently be driving near them. He's an idiot and I wish sentences were harsher for people that are caught.
Guy's a prick and stupid too for not getting a cab, not like he can't afford it or would have to leave his Porsche where it could be stolen.
When does the bridge from "he's a c*nt" to "he's our c*nt" start to become untenable? Has it ever come to that point in our past? Suarez flirted with it in the hearts of some fans (not mine)...
I was ready for us to throw Suarez out after he bit Ibrahamovic. Only in the last month or so I've begun to forgive him- only because he has been exemplary now and does look like he has changed. Bite someone again? Throw him out... well... throw him out in exchange for a lot of money. I don't approve of what Luis Alberto did. Sounds like he got punished. He's a prick for doing it. (and no- I've never driven drink or drug impaired). It's first strike for him. If he does other dumbarse stuff I'll want him gone... for now, keeping the opinion it's a one off offence for him and everybody does something stupid occasionally. I'm not going to call for his head for this. ... until/unless he does something else bad.
Whilst there are no figures available I feel fairly confident that I'm closer to being right than you are when it comes to measuring who the majority is. You have to remember that some of us were driving in the day when you had to walk a straight line to prove sobriety. Now the law is the law and I'm not condoning breaking it but I truly feel that as there was no injury caused, there is no point in pillorying the player.
Again it's illegal and for good reason. BUT driving in any city in the UK you would be hard pushed to get through a day without seeing some driver on the phone!
I'm not as bothered with people talking on the phone (not illegal where I am- and studies have shown it is not significantly more distracting than talking to a passenger who is in the car with you)- what bothers me most is people texting whilst driving.
He's only getting criticised because he's not a particularly important player at the moment. I'm not saying people are wrong to criticise him, but if it was a first team player I doubt we'd see the same reaction. Were people calling Johnson a 'prick' & other things when he got banned from driving? Would be happy to be proved wrong but I don't think he did.
I think that if he can't A) hold his drink B) get a hands free kit C) stop making excuses D) hire a driver on 500 notes a week out of his 10k per week Well I reckon he deserves what he gets, molby in the 80s was bad enough but these days? No excuse for such silliness
Suarez's misconduct has all been on the pitch and relatively harmless in comparison to this, drink driving could end up killing someone, biting some Serbian defender might kill his season or blocking a Ghanaian penalty might kill the dreams of some football fans but it's not real world stuff. It sets a bad example as it's on a massively public stage but in the end it's just sport. Personally I think they should ban drivers from doing anything in the car other than driving, that is operating the actual vehicle, a mobile or sat nav in a cradle are acceptable I think as is the car's stereo. Eating/drinking (alcohol or non), smoking, non-cradled mobs should all be punished with a ban. Every day I see absolutely shocking driving, some of it's caused by mobiles and such, and alright some of it's just people not being very good at driving either they're indecisive or old codgers. Think advanced/motorway driving courses should also be mandatory within one year of passing the test.
I'd have a few and drive depending on mood. I'd have a Range Rover Sport for every day use, a TVR of some kind for flashy days and a Ferrari spider for flashness Always said, I wouldn't want a big house, just a big garage
I've seen both, mate who spent 12 months in hospital because of a drunk driver who drove out in front of his bike (****er got done twice after that without insurance or liscence and still didn't get jail) and my best mate banned for 12 months because he decided to drive at 11 the morning after his stag do with seven in the car which he'd been up drinking until 5 to the garage to get sausage rolls. Cop saw an over loaded car smelt the alcohol 5 metres away. (His brother was the best man, I was still unconscious) I had no sympathy of my best mate, and he didn't expect any, thought himself lucky and took his punishment. Anyone that kills someone for that bad call deserves a bad punishment. But..... We all make bad decisions. Anyone punched anyone? Yeah...probably with good call at some point....if he'd dropped and died? 10 years...didn't matter that he called you a name or slept with your wife...do you deserve the the time? Possibly...possibly not. Repeat offenders? Should have no mercy.....
Meh. Non story. I know more people that have driven over the limit than not, not saying its good or right but most people getting on their high horse need to look in the mirror tbh.
I think the laws are about right for drink drivers, I don't agree with locking someone up for a first offence provided they haven't crashed or injured anyone. Everyone can make a mistake and I think the current 1-2 year ban is enough of a slap on the wrist, for them not to do it again once they get there license back. I think a repeat offender though should get a prison sentence, if that's what it takes for them to realise how stupid it is
