Yes, I would be more enthusiastic if Celtic joined too. In fact, I could see a case for several Scottish clubs joining the football league. Any Scottish Prem clubs would have to join at Championship level first, and if I remember correctly, this was agreed for Celtic and Rangers some when around 2002, but the then Premiership vetoed it.

Exactly. There's very little gain to the PL. And they couldn't just go straight into the PL anyway. They would have to start at the bottom.

I'll see if I can dig out the articles about Celtic and Rangers moves to join the football league back in the early 2000s. They weren't going to go straight into the Prem.

    [5 minutes later]

OK, had a look, and was amazed that behind the scenes there is still an enormous amount of talk, right at this moment, about Celtic joining the EPL. It's dominating all the Googled answers. What I have found at short notice is a newspaper article which refers to the agreement of 10 years ago or more, where the two clubs were to join, but it was vetoed:

Wow, just seen such a clear example of nepotism at a company I used to work for. Definitely about who you know, not what you know.

We'd all be happy if it works in our favour. Humans are influenced by relationships....that's life and life isn't always fair.

Indeed, but it's one thing to pick someone who's related to someone from a list of candidates or giving someone an interview because they're related to someone but the job in this case wasn't even advertised, it was just given straight to them because of who their father is. That's not even remotely close to being ethical.

My son wasted his time travelling to interviews on the mainland for jobs, getting to the last two, then watching the job go to someone in-house. Companies generally insist on interviewing even when that is their plan...better to be honest and not waste the time and money of other people. He's got a job now, but he got really fed up with it. Ethics be damned, better to have honesty. Sorry, Pomps, but only kids believe in fairness....those at the top can give the jobs where they like. We just need to accumulate a more useful group of friends and relatives :)

Our tax pounds go towards housing Royal's and their distant relatives in palaces and mansions, life definitely isn't fair. At least we don't live in Afghanistan.

The only job I've had came from my dad. I'm probably a bad person. If it helps I didn't really do anything.

Tbf, honesty is part of ethics. And you're right they can give jobs to whoever they like but that doesn't mean I have to like it.

Plus, this situation isn't just about the fact that they're internal, that I can live with, but who their dad is. If their dad wasn't who he is, they wouldn't have gotten anywhere near like the opportunities they had and I bet you the job would have been advertised externally.

Fined each £250. £25 Victim surcharge. £325.00 Costs.

A bit lenient and not much of a detterent, but no doubt their ground bans will stay.
