Absolutely brilliant. There was an interesting documentary on recently about Robert Plant. Kudos Dai Wish I'd seen them. I despair at the state of modern music, I really do.
It was a 3 day festival at hide park in 1968 and with led zep there was the young rolling stones and my favorite at the time a band called YES. I have fond memories of those times..
Never liked Zep growing up or now for that matter. I was more into Yes who had more melody about them and pushed the boundaries. I played in a band and we did "Rock and Roll" once which is a great Zep song. "Stairway" is good too. Otherwise it's too thrashy and tuneless for me. Hugely influential though, fair play.
I played in a band and we did "Rock and Roll" as well - more than once though. So it wasn't the same band Could never get into Yes, some decent stuff but the majority too bland and uninteresting for me. I'm very much guitar oriented and appreciate a good melody, being a songwriter myself.

My first proper date with my wife was at the Zeppelin Knebworth concert - she loves them more than she does me lol. I do like Yes as well, remember seeing them in Cardiff in I think 1975

I saw Zep at Knebworth, gatecrashed into a Yes gig in the early 80's. The Buggles guy was with them then. I would really liked to have seen Stevie Ray Vaughn.

You're going to think I'm being contrary but I'm not, honestly... for me personally, the problem with the Satriani vid is it's all amazingly technical but running up and down the fretboard as fast as you can (for the sake of it) and pointing to the crowd whilst doing a hammer on does nothing for me. I find it interesting but it doesn't get my juices flowing. Can't say I've heard much Prince (isn't he called something else now or has he changed back again or was he Prince at the time?!) and he's good but nothing stand out for me from that vid. Thanks for the heads up, I didn't know about that particular George Harrison tribute Now take a look at Cream's 2005 farewell concert. I thought Clapton was going through the motions for many years and a lot of his stuff a bit boring but here he plays out of his skin, it's incredible. It's all about what you play, rather than how fast or how much you can get through. The whole thing is pure magic as the three of them put in an amazing shift, bouncing off each other. I've always had an appreciation for a good three piece band, you've got to be good as there's no place to hide. Part 1...
