    Portsmouth must have been mad to let David go...though one fan told me he was disruptive. I expect he made the other players feel inferior...a great player held back by injury.

    I know you're probably attuned to the piss take, but you should also know by now that I don't take the mickey out of Pompey, unless provoked. So, it's not a joke. The expression comes from the time of the introduction of natural gas, during the 1960-70's. It means you're doing very well.

    I can't see arguably the biggest football club in the world employing a manager who can't speak English due to the huge amount of media work that this position demands
    A non starter I would suggest purely for this reason

    On an aside, I mentioned to my son's girlfriend that people used to kill themselves by putting their head in the oven before the introduction of the safer North Sea Gas. 'That must be so painful', she said. She was relieved when I pointed out that they didn't light the oven. Made me wonder what gas mark you'd cook a head on.
