With a temporary, inexperienced management structure in place at the moment with Giggs & Co, this has to affect our ability to potentially sign any targets.... or even show any real interest in them bcos firstly they won't be given the power to choose who should come in, and the uncertainty of who will become the permanent manager may put targets off until it's too late. That's the only concern at the moment.
Hot off matths twitter rumour mill. "Utd after the new Spanish wonderkid Catamon de Pijons" #thenewjanuzaj
Let's be honest Lamba, he isn't as good as they say he is, if they think they are getting a new Gareth Bale, they willl be deeply disappointed, he has made it fairly clear that he doesn't actually want to leave, but silly money talks.
We need a left back mate, not an attacking powerhouse. So long as he can defend and attack like Dennis Irwin could that will do, thanks.
My problem with Shaw is that he looks better going forward than he does defending. I'd be disappointed if we spent £30m on a left back who has potential to be very good.
I think he's first and foremost a very good defender myself. I could be wrong but I'd have it the other way round to what you said.
I'm a Saints season ticket holder and would have to say that Luke Shaw is a terrific prospect. I can't see Utd paying £30 million for him and the figure is a bit convenient as it marries up with the losses we reported a few weeks ago. Without doubt he is the best player we have produced since Gareth Bale and it is inevitable that he would finish up at Old Traffic. Utd have been a laughing stock this season and have lost the fesr factor that they previously enjoyed over other clubs. Shaw will terrorize teams down the flanks next season and is exactly the kind of player who will kick-start Utd's fortunes. For my money he is certainly as good as Giggs in his prime already and has the potential to emulate Gareth Bale. Although I am partisan in this respect, Saints have always been one of the best teams at developing talent and the current crop of Lallana, Chambers, Ward-Prowse and Shaw are our equivalent of your class of 1992. In fact not team has consistently produced such talent English players over the last 10 years as Southampton and the likes of Wenger seem constantly to have our players under scrutiny because he is aware just how good our academy is. We have produced more talent of note than Utd since the likes of Beckham and it is no surprise that your are being linked with Shaw. You will see in this year's World Cup that Lallana is probably the best young midfielder this country has and far exceeds anything you have in your current set up at this point in time. I don't think Utd fans should be belittling Saint's achievements in producing extremely accomplished English talent as these are precisely the kind of players Utd should be churning out if you are continue Ferguson's legacy. some of the football we have played this year has been poetic and it is only our inability to finish off games we have dominated (i.e. 70% procession in many instances) that we are not further up the table. Southampton , if anything, have established themselves as a model English club and what you have witnessed this season has not really happened in the PL since the likes of Scholes and Beckham were blooded. Luke Shaw is a marque signing for Utd and a sign that they mean business in 2014/15.
