26th April 2014
St Mary's Stadium
12:45pm kick off, live on BT Sport

Referee: Michael Oliver
Assistants: S Long and R West
4th official: Jon Moss

Form guide:

Southampton:

Aston Villa 0-0 Southampton
Southampton 0-1 Cardiff
Man City 4-1 Southampton
Southampton 4-0 Newcastle
Spurs 3-2 Southampton
Southampton 4-2 Norwich

Everton:

Everton 2-0 Man United
Everton 2-3 Palace
Sunderland 0-1 Everton
Everton 3-0 Arsenal
Fulham 1-3 Everton
Newcastle 0-3 Everton

Saints come into this match with no goal from open play in 3 matches, the last being scored by Jay Rodriguez. Everton have had no problems finding the net lately but Palace have shown that they can be got at.

Injury news:

Jay Rodriguez is obviously ruled out, Ramirez is a doubt after missing last weekend's draw against Villa. Wanyama should start for me as he was impressive against Villa and we will need him to break up Everton's attacks. For Everton Mirallas is out injured and Jagielka has also been out injured for a while so he is doubtful. Distin also out for Everton.

For me, this will be an even game with few goals, so 1-1 or 2-1 to either side.

Well, so much for posters going in order of win/draws. I might do the next one, whatever the outcome.

Mirallas being injured is crucial for Everton, he's been a key player for them, as important as Jay Rod is for us. I think the key battle is going to be between the full backs, Coleman v Shaw, and Clyne/Chambers v Baines. I think Clyne has to start for us, as his all-round game is probably just ahead of Callum's. As for Shaw, has he got the pace to get past Coleman? Could be close! Our CB's will have to contend with Lukaku and Naismith, so no slip-ups please guys. In midfield Morgan and Victor should be able to cope with Barkley and McCarthy/McGeady/Osman.

I'm going to go for a narrow win for Saints, 1-0 or 2-1.

Is that definite? He'd be a big loss as well.

According to Adam, Luke is the fastest player in the squad. I don't think they've had any sprint contests down at Staplewood, because if they did, I'd be very surprised if Clyne didn't come out fastest.

I'm pretty certain I saw it somewhere. Would be Stones and Alquarez at the back. Still good partnership though.

Rules are you do the next one if Saints win, a free for all for a draw and someone else does it when Saints lose.

Oh, OK. I thought you had to lose to relinquish the honour. I take back all I said. Do carry on.

Lol I think everyone should get a turn next season? Would be quite amusing trying to find enough new posters to fill an entire season of games :)

Anyway a 0-0 against Villa is almost as bad as a loss anyway. <laugh>

Plenty of posters. Mind you, some are not as adept on the Internet as others. When the new season's fixtures come out, we'll make Fran's the last match, so that she can get started right away. :)

Well I had this prepared, so I'm not going to waste it!

Southampton v Everton
Venue: 12:45 St Mary’s Stadium

Betting (SKY 24/4)
Saints 9/5
Draw 12/5
Everton 7/5

Saints are looking for their first win in 4, whilst Everton appear unstoppable at the moment in this luchtime clash on BT Sport.

Everton travel to St Mary’s on the back of a home win against Man Utd that ultimately sealed their former manager’s fate. Their only recent blip is a home defeat to Crystal Palace. With Arsenal not playing until Monday, Everton can sneak into the top 4 with a point and put the pressure back onto the Gunners. Everton have won 7 times away from home this season including beating the sides either side of the Saints.

Saints in the meantime hope to cement their 8[SUP]th[/SUP] spot, which we have held for what seems as most of the season. Newcastle are 3 points behind with an inferior goal difference, and Man Utd are 8 points ahead and seemingly out of reach with only 3 games left. Saints have yet to beat a top 5 side at home, with draws with City and Arsenal the best we have done. No new injury worries for the Saints and Everton will be without Sylvain Distin with a hamstring Injury and Kevin Mirallas.

In the corresponding fixture this year Saints were on the wrong end of a narrow 2-1 defeat, with a Ramirez screamer sandwiched in between goals from Coleman and Lukaku (Who else!). This match was also noted for Adam Lallana and his changing ways since he has been picked for England :) The last 3 visits from Everton to the Saints have finished all square – including last year which was Pochettino’s first game in charge. Saints though haven't beaten Everton in any of the last eight head to heads (4 defeats, 4 draws)

I can’t finish this thread without mentioning that Saints are due a win – we still need to avenge the last minute winner in the FA Cup semi final all those years ago by Adrian Heath. Some things are never forgotten.

I’m going for a nice 3-1 win with a Lambert hatrick against the toffees that will please all his family!
