Well JH said when he gave the rationale for choosing the refurb option, he said that he wanted to ensure that ticket prices for fans would not be hiked to pay for the work. Notice he didn't say wouldn't increase but insinuated that we wouldn't suffer the same way the the Gooners have with a premium on their ticket prices.

Yeah I dont mind if they're increased slightly, it all helps etc but I wouldnt be wanting to pay more than £ 100 each

Was looking for the City and I think cheapest I found were £ 500! <yikes>

The Red Sox have the most expensive tickets in baseball (albeit they're reasonable by EPL standards)

Ticket prices in the frozen North could never reach the level of Arsenal as the market simply couldn't sustain the cost.

United are the best benchmark for Northern sides and their cheapest season tickets are nearly £500 cheap than Arsenals

I never said that LFC would/could charge Arsenal style prices. The point that I was making was that JH had indicated that their plans did not include charging fans a stadium premium. Therefore price increases would be 'natural' increases.

In the same statement JH was also keen to promote the idea of reasonably priced Family Tickets.

Until we know more about the implementation of these plans and LFC's pricing policies then there is no point in benchmarking. However there is a point in reminding them of their previous statements and holding them to the principles contained there.

Doesnt seem like much of an increase.

Why dont you do a temp ground share with Everton and knock Anfield down to rebuild? Im sure everton wouldnt mind as it wouldnt be the first time they lent you their stadium.

When did they lend us Goodison. If your going back to 1891 then Everton left th stadium which didn't belong to them.

Must be hard not having your own purpose built stadium. Puts you in a league with City, Wimbledon and until recently, Brighton.

Must admit I'm pleased things are happening but 54k is not nearly enough.

I expected 60k with plans to expand this towards 70k over the next 10 years.

This is not a particularly big statement which I was hoping it would be.

    Oh.

So was anfield built specifically for Liverpool? Just happened to be a few years before you existed.

Its clearly your ground and I do like winding you up dave but I expected better.

    It's 58.5k not 54k isn't it?

They'll want a ROI on their capital investment, obviously the increase in capacity will raise matchday revenues, but that alone won't give them a meaningful increase over the cost of the borrowing.

I think you'll end up having to remind them................

  17. 54,000 is stage one. The 58,800 figure is stage two. I suspect there will be a stage three should these prove successful so I'm not worried. Especially since the talk was about increasing to 60,000 and we're only 1,200 short.

    Cool.

The timing of this is good I think as it is taking the focus off the game.

Same with Moyes going - its given the media something else to focus on.

Probably. ROI killed the new stadium idea -even after naming rights! It's a ery fine line between conflicting objectives that they have to travel.

No, I want it Bigger! My Mrs has been saying that for ages! <ok>

So pleased that Anfield will be extended and not a new Stadium built in its place. I hate all these new lego kit stadiums that have been built over the last 20 odd years. They are completely souless and without any real atmosphere.
