    @ HRH

We were bottom "because the other teams won". Yep. That tends to be how football works. No mention though of only 6 wins all season, or only 24 goals all season.

I listened to the interview, and it confirmed my opinion that he should have walked when Kermit was sold. After that he was dead man walking. Or a "difficult" situation as he put it.

Has anyone ever heard Chris Powell admit to making any mistakes during his time as manager ?

Had we been playing in the league and had won then we wouldn't have gone bottom.

It was a set of circumstances that placed us bottom at that time. We've since played league games and won whilst other teams lost and moved off the bottom, that tends to be how football works.

Yes, he admitted one in his interview. You referred to it on pont 5 of your opening post.

Under Powell we had 6 league wins all season, and the worst number of league goals (24) in ALL FOUR DIVISIONS <cheers>
The only "set of circumstances" relevant to that were that we had a manager who was useless this season.

Signing Franck Nouble. Admitted Dyer warned him off the move and he should have listened.

I didn't want CP to go, a part of me still thought he would turn it around - though the evidence of the season thus far didn't really confirm my opinion. But he has gone, and is a part of our history once again. He deserves to be remembered for the good and not for the last 8 weeks of his tenure.

    Regarding the interview:

Saying ''Charlton aren't a cup team'' I hope was more of a tongue in cheek comment. I'll make my mind up on that when I hear it.

Would have been interesting to hear if he told RD the players signed weren't up for it, or if it was an opinion he held and is sharing now.

Did he not ask RD what his long terms intentions were when he joined? Seems strange that he wouldn't of.

Danny Murphy is a **** and it angers me he is even mentioning Charlton.

I know how V-a-v feels. I spent nearly 2 years (literally) shouting for Andy Nelson to get sacked, and when the axe fell for the second and final time I felt at a loose end. A group of us eventually had a "Nelson Out Day" in Chichester, and got paralytic. After this we were able to "move on" as they say. Maybe V-a-v should do something similar?

Depends on the quality of the manager SIG.

Burnley had the 4th lowest budget in the Championship this season. Remind me again how they did?

    More fibs, SIG.<sorry>

Sean Dyche sold his best player & star striker Charlie Austin to QPR for £4.5m. Burnley went into this season with only 16 pros in their squad. Dyche was allowed to sign 3 free transfers in 2013, followed by Ashley Barnes from Brighton for an undisclosed fee in January 2014.

While Chris Powell has been busy on his UK Valedictory Tour - sponsored by Kleenex - Sean Dyche was busy getting his side promoted on the kind of shoestring Sir Chris could only dream about.

Did they? I'd be surprised if true - can't see a squad containing Kightly, Shackell, Heaton, Wallace, Marney, Vokes, Jones, Treacy, Arfield etc being the 4th lowest budget in the league. Especially considering some of them were signed directly after their Premiership season and for 7 figure sums. Whilst they didn't spend in the summer, they acquired a squad with freebies on good money from the impending money from Austin's move to QPR which was sanctioned when the club felt happy about the business conducted.

And I may be wrong on this, but didn't we have the 4th lowest budget in the Championship?

more fibs? lol. you didnt even read the graph right. they had 11th lowest wage bill. which was significantly larger than ours. and that was without a 2m deduction.

dyche got to pick his free transfers. we got most of ours by coaxing the smugglers in the under-hold of the bus from the tv show coach trip to put some boots on! we only had one striker at the start of the season, at least with their 16 they still had more than that.

i think you'll find that you are just anti-powell. where as most people here will admit to liking powell, they wont be pro-powell (I think Riga has done a good job). people are just concerned on a deeper level than you can comprehend about the direction the club is taking. there is confusion as to Rolands intentions are as he has not said much, and the actions he has taken do not bode well so far.
