Is been a real shame he's missed basically the whole season. He's a good utility player on that right side and can play through the middle. He's the competition that Snoddy has probably needed.
That should have been Redmond who is a right sided player, with Pilks so injury prone we have had no other options on the left.
Whilst I agree, I don't think Hughton saw it that way. He used him on the right a couple of times, but the impression I got from interviews with Redmond/Hughton was that Hughton thought of him as a left-sided player primarily.
I agree that Hughton saw him as a left sided player which is strange as he had played him on the right for Birmingham, I think he's far more effective when he's on the right as his pace lets him get to the by-line ahead of the full back and cut low crosses into the box or pull it back into space, the insistence on playing inverted wingers meant that he played on the left because he was right footed.
The insistence on playing inverted wingers is one of the many reasons why he eventually lost his job...
Using Redmond as an inverted winger makes sense if Olsson can get the crosses in on the overlap. Good to get Benno back now.
I suppose he'll be good enough if we do go down. Which we surely will if our survival is relying on his return.
Like may be a bit strong, for someone as bland as bennett it would be better to keep him out of the way for attacks. In the Championship I can see him playing right back, not in the premiership though. I wouldn't play him at all.
