.....and I'd not feel either surprised of betrayed if that ended up being Mauricio's funds to strengthen over the summer. Hell, it may even be those generated funds that persuade MP to stay on.

We're not really getting anywhere here are we? Do you actually think nobody will feel let down if Shaw leaves? Because that's all I'm arguing.

"We are doing everything in our power to keep this group together" does not extend only to financial considerations.

I think you'll find you're in a massive minority if you genuinely believe Shaw being sold to someone this summer is only slightly less further fetched than us signing Bale back!

Well no, we're not, because you have the positivity blinkers on, and that's fine. I'm just trying to offer the voice of reason and reality. It's there to be ignored if you like, that's fine too, but just don't talk about betrayal when Shaw leaves to provide funds for strengthening over the summer, and because having seen United sign Van Gaal, Fabregas, Cavani and Kroos, an ambitious young footballer decides he fancies a bit of that and the 100k a week to go with it.

I'm not sure if you're being deliberately awkward or just spectacularly missing the point. The reality is that many fans will feel betrayed if Shaw is sold. I'm not saying that they should, or that I will, I'm just saying that some people will, and that Krueger will have to answer for that. That's all.

I pretty much agree with PTF here. Selling Shaw could really damage some fans' faith in the board. Whether you loved him or hated him Cortese made decisions that improved the club enormously on the pitch and spoke at length about his ambition to regularly compete in the Champions League. The new board don't have the same track record and many fans have reservations about what their ambitions and intentions will be. If selling Shaw is one of their first acts in the transfer market they risk a lot of fans getting disillusioned.

Then they didn't read what he was saying properly. Quite simple really. If he'd said "we are not selling Luke Shaw", then sold him, then your point would be valid. He's not said that or anything like it.

No he hasn't been that explicit, but he would be naive in the extreme to think that nobody would interpret what he said in that way.

Personally if Shaw went I'd be minorly disappointed but not at all surprised since his value is currently so inflated, and most people I know are of the 'Well if we get offered £30m we've got to take it' mindset. If any first team player or promising youngster left as well as Shaw, then I would be fairly disillusioned.

Indeed. With the mindset that fans insist on having [ie, attempting to second guess everything], if Krueger had said, we will not be selling Shaw, then people would probably be saying, aha, but he didn't say he'd not be selling Lallana, Schneiderlin, [and every other key player in the squad].

They can't win. Poch said he lives in the world of facts. Now let's misinterpret that as well.

Can you not acknowledge the massive amount of (purposeful) wriggle room there is? That's all I'm asking?!

But that's the thing - I strongly believe that my point is the fairly obvious (if a little shrouded by business speak) interpretation of what he's saying. My opinion being that any other interpretation and subsequent feelings of "betrayal" are at best naive about how this stuff works. It boggles me a bit that people are interpreting it differently, but then I guess that's their lookout. I think I've likely bored people enough on this now, so let's move on!
