I think they're tremendous when I was first introduced to their music through a friend I thought it would be like some DJ Computerised D&B, to then go and see them live playing instruments was amazing like. Thoroughly enjoyed them as a live band, and have since seen them a handful of times. I even like their new stuff!

A lot of the better 'computerized' DJs will be good musicians and I personally think a lot of the computer stuff has a lot of merit!

    ;)

Love that! Class entrance song for City I thought :) Use it to pump myself up before playing haha

Seen Pendulum twice now, in December and like two weeks ago at the o2. Brilliant crack, got annihilated by some massive ****er in the mosh pits and lost a toe nail but it's all good.
The Island Part I is epic too, if you haven't heard it give it a listen!

Self-proclaimed super fan... seen them about 6 times now and love all of their stuff! Can't wait for their next album, especially if some of the songs are similar to Self v Self!

Yeah, class :D Dubstep kinda music... Although this song's just a remix, still love it. 'Kill everybody' and 'scary monsters' are class songs too.

Wait for the bass drop at like 1.18

Made a gym CD with like Pendulum, Prodigy, Hadouken and Skrillex on... proper work out music :D

    This.
I wrote out a really long rant, but I know not many people care so I'll sum it up in as few words as I can: computers save time, space & money.
In my live sets I can access 1000s of emulated synthersisers, 1000s of drumkits and drum machines and a lot more effects that wouldn't be practical to take with me to every gig. You're only as limited as your hardware space and wallet.
I still play using a midi keyboard & controller and I'm going to be investing in some e-drums soon as I've just bought a program called BFD2 (ridiculously high level quality drum recordings which have 24+ different layers to change their sound depending on how hard you hit the pads).
I'll give an example synth that is synonymous with all the electronic music genres, the Korg MS20. They don't make it anymore and it costs around £3-5k (sometimes more depending on the exact model), to buy an official Korg VST emulation (complete with 4 other Korg classic synths) cost me about £400.
That's pretty much the reason why you'll find a lot of electronic musicians these days using computers. Also Pendulum use 13 computers in their sets for effects and the like, so technically they are "computerised"!

I can still play synth, guitar, bass, a few drum rhythms and a bit of piano and have been musically trained in theory and the like so I'm still a musician; I'm just using the better tools available to me for the genres I want to make music in. I'd say maybe if I was signed and/or rich I probably would lug all the analogue equipment with me as each analogue hardware has its own unique sound & tone variation not available to a digital medium.
I could also go on a long rant on how also live isn't really live performance in all genres anymore, but another time another day & about 3 years of pent up disillusionment from a music tech degree ruining the music industry for me so I won't bore you any further!

Anyway onto Pendulum, never really gave them a chance past their first album. Sounds snobby, but they commercialised their sound (don't blame them, I would in their situation - money, women, not worldwide tours) and as well I moved onto other music. Sort of the same with Chase & Status for me, loved them right up to More Than Alot, then stopped going to see their sets (DJing or Live) as you couldn't move.

I do like other D&B, but I mainly listened to it with certain uni mates (who left last year) so rarely get to go to any decent nights like Subdub these days and I prefer listening to the likes of techno myself. On a side note, if you're ever in Leeds & Subdub or Exodus is on - definitely go, it's one of the best D&B nights in the country, but do remember to take some earplugs as their soundsystem is ridiculously loud!

I am normally an extreme Metal type person but i must say i think Pendulum are awesome! Very good live especially when you're off your box haha

They started off as a metal/rock band in OZ but then went over to more Drum and Bass, you can totally tell their influence on their newer stuff cant you! Good ****
