Right, TT... is this the list of someone who isn't a sicknote? If you receive 3 "challenges" of the severity that Diaby has then you're going to struggle to come back from them. The man himself has said that his body was healing unevenly which suggests to me he needed even longer out working solely on his fitness. RVP himself took on extra fitness work to battle his demons and it worked wonders so maybe Diaby needs to do the same. I'm certain we've rushed him back too often and he's not been ready which has only antagonised the problems. Most of us play sport to some extent and if you're anything like me you don't like stopping for injuries. Like a bell-end I didn't stop playing football for 6 months with 3 broken toes and not only did I play atrociously (well, worse than normal...) but I quickly picked up other knocks from over-compensating for it. Would have been far better had I sat out for a few weeks like the doctor said. Er, that last line better not get back to the wife mind...
One of the most famous stories about a player playing when he isn't fit is ex Liverpool defender Tommy Smith.I know it's years ago but Smith was given cortisone injections so he could play through the pain barrier. He's now in a wheel chair.
Looking through that, 2009-2010 wasn't so bad for him, that was one of his most consistent free injury seasons.
Nothing much to lose from seeing how he goes. This really is last chance saloon for him now though. Next long term injury and we should get him out without a moment's hesitation. If he stays fit then he could be a real asset.
He's the kind of player we need in the transfer window. He's the one player in our squad who can power his way past people His passing hasn't always been the best but that's what you get when a player's constantly in and out of the team
I would like to clarify that Diaby's return should in no way affect recruitment during the summer. It should be assumed that he will break down at the start of the season and be out for its entirety.
1. You really don't understand the finer points of any debate do you? Is the root cause of those injuries of no importance? 2. You don't learn from experience. Sick note is exactly what they were calling Ramsey, and that didn't reflect too well on the petulant side of the Arsenal support.
Maybe I should have more faith. If RVP and Rosicky can come back, then hopefully Diaby can. Remember when Rosicky was a walking patient? I think his problem was having one leg being longer than the other, but he managed to come back, and play quite regularly for us.
I have to be honest Diaby invokes strong emotions in me. I am not religious, but it just seems morally wrong to judge him, or do anything other than support him and give him every chance of a recovery. And I do mean every chance he wants. I believe he has earned, and deserves any success or help he can get. Even if your head is telling you he can't come back from injury, reach down inside you deep and try and find that glimmer of humanity (it must be there somewhere) and find it in yourself to want him to recover. It is another one of those points where I just cant understand an Arsenal fan NOT getting behind him. In reality it costs us (and the club) so little to be kind and compassionate, I just can't understand any Arsenal supporter who doesn't feel that way, but then again almost every time I read the Internet it seems to me that an Arsenal fan finds new ways to define the word support.
Come now, let's not get rude to each other again... I apologised on that Ramsey thread He may not have been born a sick note, but those three injuries have made him one. Being a sick note isn't an insult anyway. I really like Diaby. But he is a sick note, at no real fault of his own. One wonders if that Sunderland player ever feels remorse for essentially ruining the career of Diaby.
It could just be bad luck but lets be honest here. Arsenal DO have a problem with injuries in our squad and have for many years (which is down to either our coaching or medical staff). It's unlikley Diabys problems are completely unrelated.
Welcome back Abu. Let's hope he can have an injury free run, because the bloke really deserves it. Like a Phoenix from the flames, I hope Diaby shows everybody why we've stuck by him for so long.
If Diaby can get back to sustained fitness then we have a brilliant player on our hands. He can drive through the midfield and score great goals.
