Andy Johnson scored two more goals for QPR’s development side in a 3-2 win against Huddersfield on Wednesday evening.

The veteran striker, plagued by knee problems and more recently an ankle injury, also netted twice for Steve Gallen’s team in a game against Millwall’s second string last week.

He looked sharp again at the John Smith’s Stadium, where he opened the scoring after collecting Coll Donaldson’s long ball.

Huddersfield equalised and Aaron Mitchell made it 2-1 before Johnson scored again just before half-time following another ball over the top, this time from Michael Petrasso.

The hosts pulled a goal back but Rangers held on for a win that took them through to the Professional Development League Two play-off final.

Good news. I know he's not everyone's cup of tea, but he gives us options going into the run up to the play-offs. It's also great to see Petrasso and Donaldson developing well. If we stay in this division I'd like to see Coll Donaldson start alongside Onouha.

I have a lot of time for AJ. Works his socks off and you can't ask more than that. Him and Bobby will be great options to come off the bench.

Bang on Nines. Petrasso and Donaldson have been consistently getting in strong performances. I hope they both get opportunities to develop through to the first team.

Sorry first year injured, second started well and faded to poor displays.

    No question, leave him out.

Come on how many goals has this guy scored?

In 24 games hes scored just 2 goals for us. In his last 33 at fulham he got 11.

I understand your sentiments and concerns.
AJ reminds me a little bit of Mackie, lots of effort but not much end product. He's a good option to give tired defenders a run and would definitely be a good option on the bench to have providing of course, that he can remain free of injury.

AJ does have a good record with Zamora and can't be ignored if we are short of striking options.

Great to see some of our youngsters are getting game time, they will be the backbone of our future squad whatever division we play in next season, as long as they get the chance. Plenty of examples around of youngsters performing well given half a chance. Just depends on the management.

All jokes aside I think the first 3 strikers should be Austin/Doyle and Zamora (for the last 25 mins)

The problem with combining them is that you would have to start AJ who would be knackered by the time Zamora can be 'unleashed'

Its just not a realistic partnership anymore. I'd rather see Hitchcock as cover.

........... I'd like to see Harry blood some younger players and not just 5 minute stints, throw them in and give them a real chance.
Harry being Harry, will probably stick with the old cheese.

...presumably he limped off with 5 minutes of the match to run and is now out of contention for 3 months with a "slight knock"...

Did he end up in a brace?

Shame his career is going to be defined by injuries - he had a lot of promise at one point

If he's fit and playing, I'd definitely have him on the bench for every playoff game.

Yes, have to agree that would probably be the best option for both he and club.
He's big and strong and can muscle when needed. If he comes on with 50 or 10 to go against a tired opposition, he should be able to make his presence felt.
The more I think about it, the more it makes sense.

Zamora is good off the bench these days. Is there room on the bench for the two of them? I certainly don't want to see Keane playing a part in the playoffs.

It's always a shame when you get players with obvious skill, talent and desire, whose career is blighted by injuries. We've certainly had our share, whether we signed them knowing this or not. I'd certainly not put him into the Keiron Dyer class of sick-note though, as I reckon he's been unlucky more than particularly fragile.

Put it this way, it's the play-offs, we should be hell bent on attacking so two strikers on the bench is OK with me.
