No, that was a hilariously bad decision. But so was Taricco's decision to mouth off. Then of course Lambert was definitely fouled in the box twice. They say it all balances out over the course of a season, which is statistically bollocks, but in that case it balanced out nicely over the course of the game.
I was 120 yards away in the Northam (in line with the edge of the box, to be fair) and I chuckled more than a little as well. Vin
It was obviously not a penalty from the other side of the ground. But before the Fonte penalty incident we could easily have had a couple of penalties anyway and at least four over the course of the match. The way Brighton behaved in that match was disgraceful.
Hapless Harper has seen a few goals go against him at St Marys over the years. 4 Lambert pens Sunderland are already a pretty ugly side and they'll get worse under Poyet.
Not updated this in absolutely ages, but felt like this one had to be posted...
I remember that. It was probably my best goal celebration ever as well. Running around my garden doing somersaults and other geriatric, gymnastic moves! It looked like we were going to blow it and to score those two late goals, brilliant.
Remember being at university listening on my newly paid for SaintsPlayer account.... commentary went something like 'long ball into the box, Fonte with the header....and it's looped over the goalkeeper and into the back of the net!' Thought he'd scored an own goal
This is one of my absolute favourites.
Good to see that again and, although there were several players who are still with us, it was good to be reminded of all the ones that have left...including Butterfield, Harding, de Ridder, Sharp, Martin, Punch, Fox, etc...many of whom didn't really get to enjoy the Premier League. And to be reminded that Jos scored 8 goals in the Championship...massive thanks to him. And most of all Adkins himself...who seemed to predict his own exit in a post-match interview (not in the video)...hope he makes it back with Reading and we can give him a big St Mary's welcome.
And when he was leaning on the barrier just trying to soak it all in (I'm welling up here...thanks, Nige).
