That sentence didnt mention the departed head coach. Last few games City have been giving the ball away cheap and sitting deep with balls also being put into channels. Didnt go to Stevenage but seen over half of the last ten. Its has been workmanlike and dull quite often.

I would ask a very simple question, if any of you were the manager at the time El Abd became available and considering the ringing endorsements from the Brighton fans would you have taken the opportunity to bring him in, bearing in mind the rate we were shipping goals at the time? (not the usual hindsight we get on here)

Players make mistakes because they are humans, managers are humans too..Brian Tinnion got this sort of flak from fans during his earliest spell here.!

Ringing endorsements from the Brighton fans? Absolutely not. Never!

His core skills look poor. I would question who was watching him to sign him. He cannot be as poor as he appears to play at the level he has, but if shirt pulling, antagonism, cheap fouls and a lack of professionalism are part of the CV shoot the scout.

His hardman act is a nonsense.

Said it before, hopefully next season we see the real Al Abd. He got glowing reviews from Brighton fans, so there is a decent player in there. I will judge him fully then.

There was a thread on here from the Brighton forum giving absolute rave reviews and to a man they agreed.!

Somebody might be bothered to find it.. I can't..

Brighton fans views wouldnt come into it. Diligence should be used watching a player to know what you are getting. The crap he brings with his defending is not mistakes and that Keown like wind up in your face defending is now out of the game.

His style does appear to be outdated and perhaps more suited to a lower non-league level.

There is obviously more to El ABC's current situation than meets he eye.
He started his City career with a glaring mistake resulting in a goal against, the stupid sending off v Peterborough, the pathetic rugby tackle that earned him a yellow card early in his first match back after suspension.

He was subbed at halftime and since then has not even made the bench. Why not on the bench as the most senior defender at the club not in the starting eleven?

If this situation continues for the remaining two games, I suspect that SC will be doing his best to offload in the summer someone who appears to to be a poor recruit.

    Anyone else agree?

As I said before, despite his age this is his first move and may need time to settle - let's get behind the bloke.

One of the things I hate about City is how some sections of the crowd need to have a player to be the villain - HE'S WEARING A RED SHIRT SO GET BEHIND HIM AT THE GAME!!! I fully respect people's right to say on here that he's not good enough, but just not at the game.

His standard and play wouldnt be acceptable in a sunday team and somebody would have a word. Maybe that word is being made now. No coincidence that City got better the less Flint and El Abd were on the pitch.

I suspect that SC will be pretty ruthless during the summer where players that he does not rate are concerned. And some of the decisions he will make may surprise many City fans when they become public. Favourites may depart and others not rated by some fans may survive.

I think it is going to be an interesting summer at City.

Either they didn't have any views or they were irrelevant, what is it? I asked a hypothetical question and asked you to consider that part of it??

Yes irrelevent. He has got himself sent off, been subbed at half time and at times conducted himself like a berk. His ability on the ball is poor, his passing at wing back when pressed leaves the question did anybody at City study what they were looking at buying but hey ho Brighton fans on a forum think he WAS good.

Did you read my comment about hindsight?

The scouts, the manager, the fans, the agents weren't judging the player you describe above were they.! they were commenting on the player that they had seen first hand at their club for several seasons..

You don't rate him now, fair enough.. you have fairly good reason not to.. thats not to say they were wrong is it.

I hope he comes good and will give him a chance to do so, it wouldn't however be in front of the players who currently have the shirt.
