if wickham can score against the other bottom teams around us, we should be fine.

Sunderland rather than Wickham - if we win 5-0 and he gets a hat-trick then great. If we win 1-0 and he doesn't score - that's just as good in my eyes!!

yeah, well we have always struggled to break down the teams around us, and a lack of a striker who can hit the back of the net was part of that.

The advantage we have against Cardiff and West Brom is that they also need to win to make sure they stay up. they cannot settle for a draw. So if we can score first, then we should be ok.

Our chairman is Mehmet Dalman - you're probably referring to our owner Vince Tan in yet another load media inspired crap.

Murky Mackay got lucky when he landed the Cardiff job in the Championship and was payrolled into the Prem by Tan. The first dozen games of the season we looked set for scrappy survival - and we'd have taken that. Later in the first half of the season, we got found out - we were very poor and got stuffed at home by Southampton looking like a League One outfit. When it eventually emerged publicly that Malky and his henchman Moody had splurged (committed) £12M of a lump of Danish bacon called Cornelius, the writing was on the wall. We had to ask Copenhagen to take him back off us losing something like £8.5M on the deal in 6 months - total **** up.

Tan is a prick regarding football matters generally but he was spot on in sacking Malky. He didn't want him from Watford from the start, but was persuaded to appoint him for our Championship team at which he proved successful, albeit with Tan's money to spend at that level.

When the reality of Premier League football hit the deck, so did Malky. Others might think different, but some of us believe we'd have gone down the pan with Malky still there - he had no idea how to win a game. He was over-hyped after we beat Man City at home in our second game, and when we beat Swansea shortly after, he was hailed the Messiah. Not so - he was found wanting with some of his dealings spending money like a kid in a sweetshop.

Anyway, enough of that and onto the game - the loser will go down. A draw means we probably both will. <ok>

I'd be willing to bet that Cornelius goes again and becomes a decent striker in Europe, he was written of way too quickly, but the fact is correct that splurging that money on a young lad that had not yet played 40 games was insanity.

Woah, I didn't realise he'd gone back :s. What was the point in that, surely you may as well have kept him on to see if he developed? He's only a young lad coming to play in arguably the most difficult league in the world - why not give him a bit of time? Look at Wickham, a few short months ago people were saying he'd never make it in the prem in a million years, and whilst 2 good games don't make a worldbeater his future looks a hell of a lot brighter than it did.

Just can't get my head around offloading him at a massive loss six months in, if he hadn't improved a few years down the line just sell him then? Bizarre.

We need to play a lot better than we did in the reverse fixture, I was at that game and for 60 minutes we were shambolic

Both teams need the win so hopefully it's a relatively open game

He was bought as "one for the future" was the soundbyte by Malky, and that said it all for Tan. Paying that sort of money upfront (£8.5M) and £45K a week on a 5 year contract for an unproven lad from a rubbish Danish league on the basis of a single season was farcical.

Incidentally, it's emerged since that Leicester were very close to signing him for £500K before Malky and Moody made Copenhagen an offer they couldn't refuse - in fact, we think they walked away laughing up their sleeves.

In answer to your question about "keeping him on to allow to develop", perhaps the £45,000 per week watching a lump of bacon for a couple of years had something to do with it. Thats close on another £5M for the next two years whilst there are better options out there.

In true business (and that's what this is in reality) the experienced businessman cuts his losses and walks away. Tan did that and Malky paid the price. You don't give someone £35M to spend and pat them on the back when they piss it away. <ok>

I refuse to vote on anything like that!

After the season we've had, we'd probably be better playing away for the three games! 2 wins and a draw I think would be enough to stay up.

IF we win on Sunday, That would probably see us out of the relegation zone and the players might gain a little confidence from that - most on here had us down long ago (me included) but none of us expected a point from the last 2 games, let alone 4!

A draw is no disaster on Sunday (as long as Norwich and Fulham don't win) and it'd simply mean we need to win our game in hand to catch those above us.

£45k per week <yikes> I assumed he would have been on much less than that considering he went back to Copenhagen - no way can they afford those kind of wages so I'm suprised he didn't just refuse to leave... Or are you still subsidising his wages?

If Wickham can score these goals, what doe that say for many a managers judgement, including the present one?

I'm not certain - He has apparently (as I said on another thread/forum) returned from his last loan spell acting like a grown up. Being a footballer rather than a playboy (to quote another former maneger). If he was acting like a prick previously it's unlikely that any manager would pick him - a 20 year old kid acting like he owns the place is no good. A grown up young lad wanting to succeed is an asset

I believe Corny accepted a massive cut in wages as well as getting some sort of "punch in the wallet" from Copenhagen for re-signing on those new reduced terms. It is suspected that Cardiff broadly subsidised the deal.

It is documented that actually CCFC received approx. £3M from Copenhagen in cash which represented a total write down (****ing loss!) of £8.5M for us when the other factors were included.

Most of us believe that if that money (Tan's money) had been spent wisely last summer by a more astute manager at Prem level, then we would not be in the desperate state we find ourselves right now. All conjectutre I know, but Ole only got £6M to spend in the January window to put it right in half a season - a far cry from the £35M that Malky/Moody splashed around.

We got a couple of good players in the summer in Medel and Caulker, but at £20M between the two, they should be. January saw OGS bring in his Norwegian brigade on his £6M limited budget to try to turn it around.

Maybe all a bit late for this season, but have a look at young Matts Daehli on Sunday - the little 19 year old guy is going to be a star. So cool and good close control - be very careful your guys don't lunge at him in the box. <ok>
