    This is a forum.

TT is posing a question that he believes is interesting.

Absolutely no need for an unprovoked attack on him and being offensive, is there?

Personally I would also like to think that Wenger would not manage another English club at his age.

    That's your opinion only.

We will have £120M+ to spend.
We can't have the same injuries to key players again (hopefully).
Liverpool will actually have to play a few games that aren't Premier League games.
Everton will lose 3 of their best players minimum and don't have the funds to buy adequate replacements.
United need to spend £200M+ to get a defense and midfield. Will the Glazers allow that, when they are financing so much debt?

That regardless of whether or not you think Wenger is the right man after this season.

I don't know about this. I mean clearly "they" thought that Moyes was right for the job, and he obviously wasn't, so there is no certainty that the next man will be either. Pellegrini came with an excellent record and reputation, but he is not doing that well either. There really is no telling whether the next man will have success or not. Everton look like they will finish right about where they did with Moyes at the helm.

You are making a lot of categorical IF statements and there is no way that you can know what will happen IF. In addition I don't know what you are referring to as the "Current doctrine". Is it the "Current Doctrine" that had us sign Ozil? Or the "Current Doctrine" as far as giving Gnabry, Wilshere, Gibbs, Walcott, Ramsey, Ox etc. a shot? Are either far off, or is the only way to success to spend more than City and Chelsea?

It would seem to me that the implications of this are that there will be very few signings available this summer, with City, United and Chelsea willing and able to outspend everyone to regain the top spot.

If Wenger goes elsewhere, my gut tells me he'd take the France job, he's only been offered it 12434 billion times.

It is an interesting theoretical question that TT Poses about how people would feel if Wenger were to manage Utd. Whilst people can't wait to see the back of him at Arsenal, in the same breath they would not want him managing Utd. You can only surmise that is the case because they would feel threatened by Utd appointing him, when the logical conclusion from their argument is that he would be equally 'inept' at Utd as he is at Arsenal.

That would rankle, but if somebody hates Wenger that much and they truly believe that he's doing a crap job at Arsenal, why would they care ? Surely they'd be delighted to see this 'inept' manager go and manage one of our rivals.

Do you honestly think the Glazer's will allow that much spending ?.Recent history suggests otherwise.

Even before any new player signs, they have to pay off Moyes and his backroom staff, start paying the new manager and his staff, the Glazers start next season -£17m to service their debt, that's an awful lot of money even before the reported £200m war chest is handed to the new manager for players and the Glazer's are as tight as a ducks arse on previous evidence.
If its Van Gaal he won't be free for club business until after the WC which will hinder his chances to assess the squad and decide to offload and to find those on the way out a club.

    Happy days next season.<whistle>

I can't believe utd sacked moves before the end of the season. They basically waited until cl qualification was impossible so that a clause was active in his contract and they could sack him without paying off his full contract.

He obviously didn't achieve what utd expected of him but surely given that the season is already a write off they could have let him stay at the helm until the season finishes and then part ways amicably?

Add to that the £16m loss they've made over the last two seasons, the expected loss of revenue to the tune of £50m from no Champions League, the potential for sponsorship deals to go awry and the bigger financial picture for Utd is a frightening one.

The club are loaded with debt, they changed their manager and CEO as well as backroom staff all at once and now they are feeling the effects of an ill thought out change of leadership.

Agree, and I think Neville being part of the old boys network and keeping his job was in poor taste and thus he stabbed Moyes in the back.
