Tomorrow we have flat racing on the turf from Epsom and Catterick and NH from Perth, Southwell and Taunton. The main races of the day come from Epsom, the Derby Trial and the City And Suburban Handicap, both worth £31,125 to the winner. In the fist of these I like the impeccable pedigree of Moontime and at 5/1 is my ew option. In the other one I like the look of Mirsaale (comment on today's daily thread) but according to RP he is doubtful so I may have to find another ew. Good luck everyone
Evening, all. In view of the contribution made to this forum by Ste Doran and a number of his compatriots (where is the silent and much-missed Fluber?) it seems only civil to remember that this is the millenary of the Battle of Clontarf (23 April 1014). It almost certainly wasn't as significant as the contemporary Irish annalists and 19th-century historians would have us believe: it didn't 'unite the country' under one High King and it didn't 'drive the Norsemen out for ever' - in fact, fifty years after it happened you'd be pushed to say that it actually changed much at all. But that's not the point. Our racing brothers in Guinnessland like a good legend,, so here's to them and to the memory of Brian Boru. If you have to go, being killed praying in your tent at 80-something may not be the worst way.
Nice one Rainer!there was a reanactment of the battle the other day but went to fairyhouse instead.im not sure that flubber lad has dipped his head on this forum,he used to come out with some belters on the old forum!we love our legends and rebel leaders over here, anything for a good sing along!
Haha he was a filty fecker alright oddy.fine filly rings a bell too.chelsea so boring to watch in europe, I take it for granted that the majority of footy fans would like atletico to go through
A bit of bloody passion would be a start ste ................. very tactical affair. As for these Chelsea players with their "Mohican" haircut - they look a right set of twats and they probably forked out 500 quid apiece at some fancy West End Coiffeur
Mirsaale is a NR so I'll take a chance on 2 other C&D winners; Charles Camoin and Weapon Of Choice, both outsiders. Of those unproven on the course I like Ajman Bridge EDIT, How naive of me not to check the going. The weather has been so nice I assumed it would be good at worst I do believe both of those would be better on a sounder surface. TWAT.
Resurge off a mark of 92 in the City & Suburban - loves it round Epsom with 4 of his 7 career victories coming here (placed 3 times as well for good measure). Won on seasonal debut here last season off 94 and goes well with juice in the ground. Nice e/w bet at 10/1.
Agreed about ATM/Chelsea. I was reading one of these Timeform 'experts' earlier today (why do they all look about 15?) who was offering the view that JM would gamble on an away goal and that Both To Score was the smart bet. Thought it was bollocks at the time, and having watched Jose squeeze all the oxygen out of the game so far, I'm inclined to believe I'm right. Let's hope it gets better (and yes, obviously all right-thinking neutrals want ATM to go through). (Ron, if you mean being rogered to death by a randy Scoutmaster, that nearly happened to me in 1946. Only my quick wits, silver tongue and speed of foot saved me).
Some gamble going on Chosen One in tomorrows 2:00 at Catterick (20's in to 6's) but it may well come unstuck as I rather like the chances of LADY POPPY at 8-1. She has had a lot of runs already for a four year old but she is getting down to a mark that she really should be winning off. She has paid a real price for some decent juvenile form and has only come down the ratings very gradually. She ran at the weekend and put up a decent performance. Tomorrow she runs off the same mark but has a seven pound claimer on board and that really could make all the difference!
Wouldn't surprise me if Cadeaux Pearl ran well in that Stick. Scott Dixon's runners seem to be running huge races with absolutely from absolutely nowhere and he's ridiculous well handicapped on old form and carries just 8 stone when taking into account the talented Matthew Hopkins' 7lb claim. Can't advise Cadeaux Pearl on any recent form but that hasn't stopped Dixon's horses as of late and 14s is worth a small each way price for me.
Well, if you wear high heels and a wig, you can't blame Scoutmaster ArkleSupreme for finding you attractive.
Sorry, ste, but no! Don't usually get too worked-up about football, much prefer Rugby Union, but Atletico Madrid are quite the dirtiest team I've seen in a while. Also. what the hell were their idiotic fans doing booing and whistling Mark Schwarzer when he came on as replacement goalie? How the f**k did he deserve that? Players look like a bunch of Mexican drug bandits too.... Sorry, rant over, game was unpleasant, not all Chelsea's fault either.
Young Hurricane back out today at Southwell. I didn't think I'd be backing anything this week but will have a go on this at 10/3
These footballers with their mohicans and full-arm tattoos get on my nerves Swanny - they should concentrate on playing football. This is what football should be about: A man's request to Sheffield Wednesday fans to sing for his dying dad came true on Monday in the game with Charlton. Chris Eales posted online asking Wednesdayites to sing for his dad Johnny Eales at the game at Hillsborough for the wheelchair-bound lifelong fan in the 12th minute. Prior to the game, Chris said: "I will be bringing my dad on Monday for what will most probably be his last ever game, he is now in a wheelchair and we will be in the very right hand corner of the north stand disabled area. "My dad is a real true Wednesdayite and has supported since the early 60s and despite living in Coventry has held a season ticket for over four decades following the team all over. "For a dying owl to hear his name sung by the kop at what could well be his last game would just really be amazing for him."
