Picture the scene next Saturday, as 2,000 Addicks in fancy dress head to Blackpool (I am going as Albert Steptoe Snr)...safe in the knowledge that we are safe for another year in the Championship. What if a Blackpool win against us guaranteed their safety....whilst sending down the Mighty Millwall regardless of their result In such circumstances, which are quite feasible, surely Charlton must do the decent thing....... And score 4 own goals to guarantee a Blackpool win
What would be even funnier while you are losing to Blackpool, Millwall score 2 late goals against Bournemouth to go above you on goal difference.
If we are beating Blackpool & making you safe, I plan to run onto the Blackpool pitch & get the game abandoned

I've gotta be honest. I can't want my team to lose. I had the same thing a few years back in Spain when a Deportivo La Coruña defeat would have sent down their arch rivals Celta de Vigo, so I avoided the game. Deportivo won 1-0, Celta stayed up. there was a whole lot of dross from the presidents about Galicia united together, and I was happy. About two years later in a late end of season derby, Celta, with nothing to play for, played the game of their lives to beat Depor and deny them the championship, and their fans did the same sort of celebration we did at the Valley when we sent Palace down. I'll be hoping we win against Blackpool. I always do. But if we lose....c'est la vie!
I have mental age above 8. I do not concern myself with what other teams do. I just want the best for Charlton and want us to win as often as possible.
If we stay up I hope Millwall do too. The local derby is a highlight of the season (except that we only take one point a season off them)
If the goal is for Charlton to win as often as possible, would be better to keep one of the other clubs up. I don't think the scenario will happen anyway. Think it's more likely Millwall will be safe before the final match than Charlton.
How are people getting up to Blackpool? I've just had a look on the trainline and leaving at 7:55 and going to either Blackpool North/South or Preston get's you in after kick off. Any tips on alternative routes of travel that won't take 4 hours?
