It's only fitting that the 2 most successful clubs in English football should have a good battle at the top of the league <ok>

With our new owners and an excellent manager - I can see us maintaing the good times we're currently having. So now it's up to you to stop your decline, I hope you do (to a certain extent!!)

    Twice.

Can't you count to three or something? Thinking about it, probably not.

Totally deserves to be sacked because he didn't show anything that indicated he could do the job.
    1 decent performance v Bayern
1 Decent performance v Arsenal at home, though really, given what Liverpool Everton City and Chelsea did to Arsenal at their places, not really decent.
    1 Decent performance against Olympiacos

That's it. I doubt he'd even have managed the Charity shield if Martinez had still been Wigan manager tbh.

Fans are absolutely right in wanting him gone, very similar to Woy only worse as this team won the league the year before.

One of us talks about Liverpool non stop, the people and the club.

    The other is me. :D

You are not a fan, you only take pleasure in the failure of other clubs rather than the success of your own. I pity you actually

It's weird as an onlooker - every site, bbc, skysports, etc is now full of people criticising man utd for sacking david moyes. It is so easy to let emotion cloud reason and judgement, and is exactly why none of us are succesful business people (assumption I know!)

It is natural to feel sorry for David Moyes - he is a very likeable, decent man. he is dignified, honest and quite clearly works his damndest each and every day. I feel genuinely sorry for him as an outsider, and truely hope that he goes on to make a success of wrking at another club/national team.

That said - it was, from a business point of view, and absolute no brainer that he had to be sacked. Completely and totally inevitable. He had totally, totally lost the dressing room. They were performing so far below their abilities as a squad it would be extremely difficult to make a footballing argument against sacking him. It is very easy to criticise the players for 'not caring' but I am sorry, if, as a unit, you do not have trust and belief in your leader it doesnt matter how hard any individual tries, the team will not perform. There is a world of cliches about 'pulling together in opposite directions' - it simply doesnt work. They were players who had worked under a world class coaching and management team for many, many years and for them to truely buy in to Moyes and his team they had to believe in them. For right, wrong or indifferent, they didnt, and IMO no player can be criticised for giving up towards the end of this season.

Could anybody have done a better job? Who knows, and unfortunately it is irrelevant. Moyes may well be the sacrificial lamb who took the job at the worse possible time - that does not change the fact that he had to go. Sad, but true.

No need. United have had enough success in the premiership that it was becoming "almost" routine and boring.<ok>

The ******ed scousers are just mediocre and will probably get a title through failure of City and The chavs and the referees giving them ALL the decisions...:)

I think people forget weve won 13 of the last 21 titles.

In that time 2 years was our worst run.

I'd give it time before spouting ****e as its probably about to roundhouse kick you in the head as its done so many MANY times.

    some people never learn.

Aye, but that's the same for any manager. Doesn't matter how bad they've been, how poor their decisions, how badly their team is playing, when a manager gets the sack the pundits are out in force saying they should have been given more time, been sacked at the worst time, etc. etc.

Like you say - it's probably why they're all pundits, none of them have the judgement required to actually be managers or attempt to run a business. Much easier to criticise than to succeed.

Isn't it amazing that the same **** pundits who have been criticising Moyes bitterly from every angle are now saying he has been too hastily sacked and and saying that he should have been given more time.?

Did you see Gary Lineker on BBC? Earnestly telling us the club IS in turmoil. I can't stand that child hating ****ing ****, would love to smash his head repeatedly onto his MOTD desk, or whatever the smug **** sits in front of.

We're on the brink of turmoil yes, but I happen to trust those running it not to make the same mistake twice and appoint the right man. Once they do, we start to put all this **** behind us.

Exactly. I dont understand how we have been written off. Weve had a disastrous season and more than just moyes is to blame but he just wasnt big enough to handle the job.

Would anyone be shocked if we won the title next season inder a klopp or van gaal? I dont think they would.

As you say, we are on the brink of turmoil but its pretty easily fixed. Look at the likes of Chelsea. Poor in the league recently under a string of poor managers. Now title challenges under a winner. Spent a few quid as well which we expect united will in the summer.

The fact some think a club as big as united will suddenly tail off long term. Its just wont happen as it doesnt happen in football anymore. Some will say liverpool are proof I am wrong but their decline started 30 years ago nearly. A different era. When was the last time an elite, dominating club crumbled? Bar liverpool who?

If needs be enormous amounts of money will be spent. It will however always take the right man.

Thats football in this day and age. Old schoolers like Lineker might struggle to accept it but thats their issue.

With respect, and this isnt a WUM attempt, I would be more inclined to agree with you if this was a year ago and you had just appointed van gaal/mourinho.

The problem is the damage done this season wasnt just to David Moyes' reputation, but probably in the team's belief in each other.

I have no idea, this is completely speculation, but I think it very possible that there are factions within your dressing room who are at serious odds with each other over the events of the last year, and it will take a big personality to make them believe in each other again.

Not that you will have trouble attracting such a big personality - you are a huge club. I can just see why it shouldn't be automatically assumed that now Moyes has gone you will be right back at the top in a jiffy...

It's a joke, he had far more time than he would at any other English club. The criticism from other fans is incredible and shows there short memories, Liverpool for example I can recall fans gratifying Houlliers house when they wanted him out.

Quote is by a Newcastle fan. How many managers have they had in the last 15 years? Lets not forget how Allerdyce was treated on his short reign there.

Hypocrites the lot just waiting to have a go.

What if I told you van gaal went to Bayern to repair the Klinsmann damage.

    This is a similar situation.

Assuming we get van gaal of course.
